There's a real city in Kansas? The big part of KC is in Missouri.

City limits Omaha is bigger than Pittsburgh

Does everyone in Nebraska like Hüsker Dü a lot?

Do they pronounce it like [Corn]Husker Duh?

I do not think less of Kansas folk because they live in Kansas. In fact, your BBQ is one of America's finest inventions and on my way to Utah next year I intend to boost your economy by stopping through and having some.

And hey, when it comes to the world's best internet... Kansas has it and no one else does (Google Fiber). So... I like Kansas. Hell I would even be happy to have the Panthers or Coyotes relocate to KC. I'm just willing to admit it's a state with plenty of "empty land" in the center of the country, with a small media presence. Face it; none of the media would expect to find the NHL and NHLPA in Kansas this weekend. It's the perfect hideout. I say they go for it if it means no media distractions / a better chance at a new CBA.

I was just teasing guys. There is definitely a lot to dislike about Kansas. Overall, it is not so bad, though.

Out of curiousity, I checked the size of cities in both Kansas and Nebraska. The largest city in NE has about 25k more people than the largest in Kansas. However, Kansas has 5 cities over 100,000 in population while Nebraska only has 2. Kansas gets bumped up to 6 for 10 months out of the year since the students being at KU puts them fairly close to 110,000.

But, anyway...carry on.

Chancellor, when are you passing through Kansas?

Sources: NHL offering 50/50, willing to honor all contracts plus interest

http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/178216921.html

I don't know what else exactly the players (or Fehr) want.

Talked to NHL management person who says Fehr wants 100% of 2012-13 salaries even in shortened season. If true, that's out of line. (1)

adater ‏@adater
(2) you can't expect 82 games' worth of pay in, say, a 66-game season. Come on now, players. Let's get real

NHLPA pushing back on Fehr not informing players about NHL offer. "Utter bull****"

The recent tweet from Russo makes me think there's a very strong chance of no season. He's really reliable and I can't see him using Rossi-esque "sources."

The stuff from Russo and LeBrun are getting me prepared for the Pens' attempt to go 2 for 2 in the lockout draft. Come on down Seth Jones.

Legalized extortion

The players need to nip this in the bud.

Donald Fehr is a pathetic excuse for a human being.

What I get a kick out of is that they still want full paychecks despite playing a shortened season. Any average person who gets cut early or misses work (who is not on salary) misses pay for that day for a period of time or the whole day. I really don't see how anyone could stand with the players.

If true and the PA is moving goal posts at this time of year, I think we can safely say adios to the season and know what they were after this whole time.

PS Fehr is having a press conference soon, probably going to talk about how all the players are awesome and things are great on their side, baseball & 2005, blah blah blah. Needless to say, doesn't sound good.

Donald Fehr is a pile.

I thought maybe this guy could come back from fantasy land and join us in reality, but that was not to be. Its to bad the players are drinking his kool-aid.

Awesome, another defenseman from the Winterhawks! I'm wondering in these trying fiscal times for NHL clubs if the Pens couldn't make their scouting HQ in Portland to save a few bucks We all know it's inevitable.

Everyone is questioning Fehr now since he left out key details of the NHL's proposal from the memo he sent to players last night. He is speaking at 8:30 so we'll see what happens.

Only thing he would have worthwhile to say is that he is stepping down.

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
Again, crux of dispute is memo from last night that was leaked. NHL believes Fehr "hid" details of "make-whole." One player says it was...

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
Deliberately kept out of that memo because they knew it would get out and they didn't want to reveal specific details.
