Other than Eberle and the 1st overalls, what gems has Stu found tho?

You're asking this just four years into his tenure?

WE never have an answer for Neutral Zone lock or pressure. Why should it be any different here?

These guys are getting system schooled out there all over the ice by a team actually willing to play a system.

Watching the Barons is like seeing a team thrown together that hasn't even had a practice.

Eberle, hang your head in shame that you stubbornly try to force the puck downlow on the PP when its not there, turn it over, haul the guy down and take a penalty. If Omark did that I'd be all over him.

Marincin, go to bed. No dinner.

Disorganized unfocused bunch.

Agreed, still a little early to tell. "Gems" are hard to find for any scouting team. Detroit is the exception not the rule. (klefbom, Pitlick and Zharkov) may all become great players still

the painfullness of the reading of the thread is directly proportional to the painfullness of the watching of the game.

Agreed 100%. It's painful to watch and this is not a small sample size, they have struggled with chemistry and dealing with teams that stick to a system. Just look at the games against Lake Erie for instance. It's the same exact problems that the Oilers encounter.

I agree that Harti has surpassed him, but it should be mentioned that he brings a very different element to the game; size versus speed. I am just surprised at how little finish the Swede has. It seems like MP looks good flying around accomplishing very little.

I hate this avoid line matching technique that Nelson is using. Get some offense going first from your big guns. Don't saddle them with offensive black holes like Vandevelde and Lander.

Overheard on the telecast is that the Abbotsford Heat have already played 2 of their home games in Calgary?

hmmm

So again why can't this take place with our org?

Maybe ...just maybe a few posters on here do not realize just how tough of a league the AHL is....or just how much of a grind physically it is....did anyone really think that Hall would score 60 goals in the AHL or Ebs would get 200 points.....there are a lot of good players in the AHL this yr....the goalies in the AHL are stil top 100 in the world ......everyone needs to relax...these players are still very young for the AHL and the main guys are just treating it like exhibition/preseason games on top of it all

Lander was actually the best player on that line in the 1st.

Nah, it was weak. And the one before that against the Heat was so weak it escaped the notice of our announcers.
Not impressed with the officiating I've seen so far in the AHL in general.

We like to complain a lot about the NHL refs, but seeing how poorly this league is officiated maybe gives us a better idea of just how difficult the job actually is.

Guys like VandeVelde and Pitlick have to start picking up their intensity levels.
I agree with spreading the NHL players over three lines, but that's only going to work if some of these other guys step up.

After watching more AHL games I'm left wondering how the hell Cornet scored thirty goals in this league.

Sure- how has been in the other 6 games though? 0 points?

I would love to see him start to break out. Love his attitude and leadership

Just not paying the price. We're playing no contact rules and Heat are bringing it.

The most alarming trend I am concerned about, is the fact the Barons are being out shot, almost on a consistent basis.

Largely because we hardly have the puck. We give it away all the time with poor passing, Heat oddly handle the puck much more adeptly and our throwing it around like we should be capable of.

We're just no respecting puck control at all.

We start getting momentum and then a bad penalty.... Was there anything of note in the first 3 mins of the 2nd?

This team looks absolutely brutal. Like Replacement said, it looks like a bunch of layers playing pick up with no structure at all.
