I heard Aaron Sims after the Admirals game say that Hamilton's Blake Geoffrion was in surgery after hitting his head on the ice at the Bell Centre following a check. Any news on him?

Blake got checked by JP Cote, His helmet shaked and lifted above his head, exposing his forehead area. He got a skate in the forehead, then fell down face first on the ice.

Canadiens just issued a press release:

Blake Geoffrion, 24, had successful surgery last night for treatment of a depressed skull fracture. His condition is stable and he remains at the intensive care unit at the hospital.

He is out indefinitely, and the medical staff is expecting a complete recovery from his injury.

Just saw an interview with his dad on the news. I guess he was having seizures and the had to put in a titanium plate. Dad said this very well could be career ending.

I wish him the best and am glad it was not worse. I like this kid. I hope he does well whichever path this takes him down.

Current update...

"They removed the piece of his skull that was about the size of a silver dollar," (Geoffrion's father) Danny said by phone on Monday. "They had to replace that with titanium and metal mesh. And that’s what the plate consists of, with the screws and all that, so he now has that in his head. It was unreal."
