Our odds are probably similar either way. Most had us projected at 12th in the East. Say that puts us at 26th, just like last season. Then we have an 8.1% of winning the lottery.
If the season is lost and the 2005 rules used, then we have a 6.25% of winning it (calculations explained in an earlier post).
Both get us to the same goal...I'd rather watch some hockey in the process though.

In Canada nothing changes I dont think..perhaps in the non hockey markets where its hanging on by a thread....the ripple effect will be felt after 1 or 2 seasons...If these idiots were smart, which they clearly aren't.....they would be signing a deal for at least 10 years.
Why is this constantly brought up? Once a week this exact thread gets put up with the exact same answer in each: We DO NOT have a great chance for Mackinnon if the season is cancelled, especially if it's the same as the Crosby draft. NYR supposedly had great chance for Crosby and ended up picking 16.

The advantage of a cancelled season is not having to endure the losing in order to earn that top pick like last year.

Would you be willing to sacrifice this entire year, knowing the leafs would have a great chance to draft MacKinnon? (Assuming the Crobsy draft rules are used)

That might be true, but having Nathan Mackinnon in a Leafs uniform might also make things somewhat bearable in the future, and certainly support the (but maybe win?) belief.

I would be estatic if we could finish 29th and 25th again wouldn't be bad again. There are impact players from 23rd and on. This looks like a great draft up top. The Leafs are not making the playoffs this year, the Cup is out of the question. It would be counterproductive to finish 22nd or better this year.
If Reimer doesn't bounce back, a top 5 pick is a reality folks.

Think of revenue generated from Toronto making the playoffs. More tickets at inflated prices, more apparel sold, more food sold in arenas, more people watching on TV. All that income trickling down to struggling teams. It IS beneficial if Toronto makes the playoffs but I'm not one to believe the league is some manipulated product and everyone is a puppet.
At this point, I'm much more willing to lose the year given we're approaching mid-November with no hockey iun sight than seeing a horrible Leafs team finish 30th overall for an entire season,. That's much more painful.

I don't agree. without a season, we'll have the most balls in the lottery along with only 3 other teams. a half season could see anything happen.
