Same here. I'm far from a Sens supporter (I honestly can't stand them) but I'm sure gonna check out Big Rig when I get a chance. I think it's really cool that he opened a brewpub that staffs one of the top brewmasters in the country. There are a few other places that brew their own but something tells me this one will be a cut above.

Can't wait to give the beer a try. A few friends of mine work there as well, so it'll be nice to catch up.

Id prefer it wasnt owned by MLSE, but if people let that stop them they are ridiculous.

Are you guys not going to watch Sens games on Sportsnet or TSN next year? They are owned by the same company as the Leafs.

But now, some are clamoring all over supporting their shiny, new sports bar. **** em. We should all hope it fails. Isnt that we want MLSE to do in all endeavors? FAIL!
I really hope you will be boycotting sens games on Snet and TSN next year.

Also, I assume you dont get your home phone, cell phone, TV, or internet from Bell or Rogers. What kind of Sens fan would you be?

Please tell me you wont send your children to a school in Ontario. Wouldnt want a Sens fans child going to a school where the workers are part of a union that owns the Leafs!

It's headed by a few local guys that are huge Sens fans and have a passion for everything Ottawa. Aside from being fans of local sports teams and contributing to the local economy both, on a business and personal level, this group of young restaurateurs actually care about the authenticity of their establishment.

that's not really an option and you know that.
This is completely different.

Handing over your hard earned money to the maple leafs? Where is the pride?
You think if an ottawa senators owned bar opened in toronto, leafs fans would go there?
How do you sleep at night?

We don't support the toronto maple leafs
Drinking, eating at bar does not equal supporting a hockey team... ever.

It does if the bar is owned by the Leafs.

Why would real Sens fans go to a Leaf owned bar that charges high prices for the mediocre at best beers they have on tap?

I just dont understand how Sens fans have such little pride or emotion. This is just another example. Although you're not directly supporting the Toronto Maple Leafs, its the overall thought and feel that you are. Its owned and operated by MLSE! Anything coming in to Ottawa that is attached to that group should be shunned and hated. But than again, many of the Sens season ticket holders have given up on going to Leafs @ Sens games at SBP because of a lack of backbone or pride.

I really hope that if you ***** and whine about Leafs fans taking over SBP and how embarrassing it is etc, that you dont support Real Sports. It all has the same feel for me. Too much MLSE, Leafs and blue and white in this town for my liking........

They could have no beer on tap for me.

If it's a good sports bar, I'm there. Like I said on the front page of the thread, been looking for a decent spot for years in Ottawa.

Lots of things are owned by the MLSE that I use, as does everyone probably ITT. Rogers, Bell, TV stations, radio stations. The **** does it matter?

Unfortunately as long as people think the way you do things will never change. Your decisions (especially where you choose to spend your money) make a difference. Have you not seen 'Cloud Atlas'? (i haven't either, but i hear that's what it's about)

Define good sports bar though. Im really curious to see how people (Ottawa folk) who want to go watch the game enjoy Real Sports. Its alot of glitz and glamour, kinda like a great big Moxie's.

I live in Kanata, so it's usually Wild Wing or Boston Pizza for game night.

With that being said I will probably check the place out, once or twice, being as my friends cheer misc. teams (NYR, Ducks, Sharks).

I ask you this question though...What's worse?

A) A Sports Bar owned by MLSE
B) A Sports Bar that becomes a TML Hot-Spot because Sens fans refuse to frequent it?

Could you imagine a LEAFS ONLY bar in Ottawa? IMO, much worse than it being owned by MLSE.

A Leaf-only bar in Ottawa is perfect. We should segregate those ****ers. Give them a snide look if they ever come into any other pub. Tell them 'Hey, Leaf fan. We don't take kindly to your types in here.'

(I'm joking. I don't really care either way)

I imagine it to be something like the Laff but without the history, class or character.

If they have an awesome game experience and good food and beer I will go, who cares if it is owned by MLSE, that is like Toronto people saying they won't watch horse racing or support St Mike's because it is owned by Melnyk (although no Leaf fan said stop taking his anti-depressants made by Biovail since it is really the only way to deal with 82 games of Leafs hockey, especially the goaltending)
