RR is even having issues fulfilling California. I have a friend in So-Cal that keeps an eye out for me and anytime that Pliny comes in, it's gone very fast. RR is not interested in mass expansion much like what is happening with a lot of the "bigger" craft breweries (ie Surly, Dogfish). They are increasing production but it's more organic.
I was looking on there for Big Rock Dunkelweizen but didn't find it. Anyone seen that in Edmonton our was that just a summer flavor?
Yeah that was just a summer seasonal from Big Rock. If you search hard enough you might get lucky and find someone who still has a pack but it is likely all gone.
Got one step closer to being back up and brewing this weekend. Put together a bunch of our new brew equipment and built a sparge arm for our mash tun. We went from using an immersion wort chiller to a 40 plate chiller and I'm amazed at how well the thing works. By just running 100 degree water through it one it went from 100 degrees to 15 degrees and that wasn't even having the tap open the entire way.
Also bought a 15 gallon blichman pot. It's pretty expensive(well I can stomach the price of the pot but you get killed with all the $16 buck a piece adapters). At first we were debating getting another type of external heat source in order to heat the pot as we've only used a stove before. But we decided to try heating 10 gallons of water on the stove to see ho long it too and it only took 30 minutes yo boil. That's pretty impressive seeing as with our other pot we were heating about 15 liters of water and it took about 75-90 minutes to heat it to boiling. The heat conduction on that baby is crazy.
Now we are just waiting on a grain mill and we plan to do up our first batch, which will in fact be two batches. Plan to do an ESB for both styles and do one with regulars hops and the other with fresh hops.
Getting pretty excited to be brewing again this winter with an all-grain system. What else better to do than brew in the winter when there is no NHL.

I was hoping to find some too. Let me know if anyone finds some.
Only thing I can think of is drinking it with no NHL.
Best of luck. Sounds pretty intense!
I'd be a slobbering drunk if I brewed my own. that or straight sober all the time because I couldn't drink my own swill.
Hahaha it depends on the kind of beer guy that you are. I never drink the same beer twice in a row. So honestly when I brew even if it is a god brew I just end of getting tired of it. So I like to share it with others and bring it to parties to get random opinions from all sorts of different beer people.
The fun of brewing is trying to perfect the art and drinking commercial beer while brewing your own.
Tomorrow at Wunderbar the Deschutes rep will be the guest for the Beer Geeks get together. From what I've heard they will be pouring the Black Bute Porter and the Pale Ale. I've also heard straight from Shane(beer geek organizer) that the rep just took a trip down to Oregon and is bringing back a surprise with him that will also be sampled at the meeting.
My guess since I know the rep loves his IPA's is that it will likely be somekind of Deschutes IPA. Either way it will be a beer that you can't get anywhere else.
Does anyone know where to find a list of stores that carry the Westvleteren gift packs? Wondering if they are being sold anywhere in Ontario because I and several friends end up there for work regularly.
I still have a 6 pack, but would love to get a few more to share with friends.
If anyone knows anywhere in Ontario, Quebec or the Maritimes that are selling them, please let me know.
Great beer night. Pit Caribou just put out a new IPA Americanne that is fantastic and followed it with a Nogne #100. Fantastic beer!
Awesome, I've had neither but the #100 is a brew I would like to get and try. Nogne has some pretty tasty stuff.
I went to Beer Revolution on the weekend for the first time in Calgary. It is a pretty solid place, my only complaint is that it needs to be bigger as we had a group of 10 and waited at the bar for a table and couldn't get one after waiting an hour so we ended up just going to Brewsters. But while waiting at the bar I was able to try a couple of great beers:
Brooklyn Black Chocolate Imperial Stout
Mikkeller From to Via 2012 X-mas Porter
Big craft beer fan here. I need to read through all of this. At the risk of sounding cliche - my favorite beer when watching sports is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Great session beer!
