Reading and hearing about our prospects takes a lot of this thing out of the stupid CBA negotiations. I can't wait until Scheifele makes his start next year.

Having one of Lowry/Kosmachuk/Olsen develop into a quality 2nd/3rd liner would be huge. It will certainly be fun watching these guys progress as all three to varying degrees are showing great promise in junior (based on numbers - as I have not had the privilege of seeing any of them play very much on tv/stream).
I'm really liking our prospect pool. It lacks a few high end pieces after Scheifele and Trouba, but I imagine the 2013 draft should rectify that problem.
Quick link to the Michagan game last night showing off our prospects offensive skills. Trouba breaks up a play and carries the puck into the Michagan state zone leading to the goal (no assist but a solid play). Then he goes tape to tape on a stretch pass from his net to the other blue line to spring a forward on a breakaway who couldn't convert. Then the one time blast from the point on the PP for his goal.

No defensive blunders in this montage either.
"The Beast"
Amazing stretch pass (too bad the forward didn't bury it on the breakaway), and huge shot from the point for his goal.
It is very likely that a couple of these guys will never play 150 games in the NHL.
Previous years that featured a ton of D men drafted early.
1996:
1 Ottawa Senators Chris Phillips 1025 GP 256 P
2 San Jose Sharks Andrei Zyuzin 496 GP 120 P
5 Dallas Stars Ric Jackman 231 GP 77 P
6 Edmonton Oilers Boyd Devereaux 627 GP 179 P
8 Boston Bruins Johnathan Aitken 44 GP 1 P
9 Anaheim Ducks Ruslan Salei 917 GP 204 P
10 New Jersey Devils Lance Ward 209 GP 16 P
11 Phoenix Coyotes Dan Focht 82 GP 8 P
13 Calgary Flames Derek Morris 1005 GP 396 P
I was suprised he was the 7th D man taken Truck? For some reason this year after Murray everyone seemed to go for the high offensive upside D prospect despite their size (Reinhart aside) now they could all well be correct with their choices but I feel like we got away with one. Going into the draft this year the guy I was really hoping would fall to us was Trouba and I am still suprised it happened....time will tell if I was right
I didn't think he would be the 7th D man drafted either.
I was confident Murray and Reilly would go ahead of him wasn't sure after that. I thought he'd at least be within the top 4.
