The Hockey News Draft Preview

Apparently, this hits the shelves next week. Anybody know of anywhere in Alexandria or DC where I'll be able to pick one up? Any help would be most appreciated.

The Borders (or is B & N) in Potmac Yards (Route 1 in Alexandria) usually stocks The Hockey News.

There is a newstand in the 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue Shops (Right on GW's campus) (Same shops where Bertucci and Kinkead are located) that carries THN.

I picked up a copy afew months back at Borders here in Fairfax City, so chances are most Borders carry it, judging from all that we've seen here in this thread

I used to work in 2000 Penn back in the day. Interesting building.

I haven't gotten a copy yet ----- anything cool / interesting / insightful that you'd care to share with the rest of the class?

The section on the caps talked about caps scouting department improving on russia and the US college scenes..talks about ross mahoney call the shots but democratically and that he has usually seen the top prospects in person.

As far as immediate needs it talks about mike green likely graduating from hershey to the nhl and that adding a player with a physical dimension (with examples of chara and morrow) as well as a right handed center and offensive right winger.

Long term...the goalie position...obviously.

Ready to step: mike green..nice compliments on his play at Hershey this year.

On Sasha Pokoluk mentioned that the caps would like to see him at cornell two more years.

Top 5 future watch...Fehr/Bourque/Green/Flash/Klepis

Interesting tidbit..since 1991 only 24% of the draft picks were euros

this is the issue with Crosby on the cover, correct? It still should be on shelves right?

Wait!! I saw that information on the Hockey News with Malkin on the cover at Border's in fairfax. Is this the Draft Preview Issue?

It didnt seem to have much on the draft (tho I just skimmed thru it).

I think the draft issue is a different one and is due out sometime this week right?

I thought rumor out of Cornell is that Pokoluk was ready to leave school for the AHL.

[snarky] Yes, but they were supremely soft Euros – so they don’t count. [/snarky]

I can't recall where the rumor came out of but there has never been another one so it doesn't seem like there is smoke at that fire.

With the new CBA and the whole junior 2 year and US college 4 year window to sign it makes since that the caps scouts are spending more time evaluating prospects there. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Finley/Pokoluk stay through to at least their junior years respectively unless one of them has a gangbuster softmore/junior year. I believe Pokoluk will be a Junior this upcoming school year.

Looks like Schultz will be at Hershey next year unless he has an amazing TC and Green will spend much more time with the Caps barring something unforseen as in some surprising free agent acquistions or he under performs at TC.

I guess Hunt will be at Hershey with Schultz and the other 4 D slots will be more AHL veteran type like Nycholat/Cutta, etc..

Barnes and noble at potomac yards stocks it, also the borders at baileys crossroad (my favorite shop methinks) carries it also.

For some clubs like Ottawa they were close to 50% euros as well as some other clubs that would surprise you, heh.

Really? I was there this week and didn’t see any on the side shelf (where they usually keep them) …. I’ll have to go back and ask the sales staff where they’re hiding the latest issue.

One Stop News carries THN, just off the Pentagon City food court on the metro level. As of yesterday, they expect the new draft issue to arrive on Tuesday (the 23rd).
