Piss poor showing (again)... Spermwhales lose 2-0. Outclassed, outplayed, outhustled, outskilled, outfought (Niemi took a beating at the end there, sheesh..). Allowed 11 (!!!) powerplays (2 Springfield goals), went 0 for 7 on the PP, incl. a 5on3 for a minute and a half.

Good night.

I'm glad the whole "losing in the most ironic fashion" thing has been pass down from the Rangers to the hawhalepack.

Never a Rangers loss where you're just like "oh, well they lost".

They either dominate and lose, get torn apart by the officials, get clobbered, or get destroyed by former Rangers.

On Erixon, the guy has always been a total stud, and looked fine as a Ranger last year. I'm upset we gave him over McIlrath, but I don't think Columbus would have accepted. Erixon thinks the game at an elite level and will be a top pairing defenseman IMO.

I have not really seen or listened to any of the Whale games. Just curious if Kreider is getting top line minutes? Not sure why he is not carrying this team yet.

The hit on Geoffrion from last night.

You can see Cote's skate come up and clip his face on the follow through.

Erixon can be an offensive stud. He looked a little raw on defense last season, but always liked him. Honestly don't think he's "Pavel Brendl soft" lol.

Gotta have some fun with it. You're right. I don't get paid for this. Which is why I can say what I think. Who cares if I'm wrong?

I think the guy's Thomas Pock reincarnated. Offer up all the proverbial Prospect excuses...he's still a first round draft pick who has been traded twice and hasn't stuck in Pro's. He's got a great name, we'll see what he can do.

Funny to see people get wrapped up in him scoring minor league points against our farm team. Give it up, he's not Ranger property.

Good at everything (except the physical aspect at this point), great at nothing. I think he'll be a solid NHL defender, but I highly doubt we find ourselves cursing the team over the loss of this guy. My personal opinion is that he'll be a solid 2-way #4 defenseman. I definitely don't see 'top pairing' like you mentioned... However, I've been wrong before ;-)

The ironic thing is we've seen the rise of Staal, Girardi, McDonagh, and Del Zotto and we're still talking about an average prospect defenseman who is nowhere near the caliber of those guys and has been traded.

If you think about the style of Wade Redden when he played, he was soft in an aggressive manner. But the man was a tough SOB when it came to protecting the puck and taking hits to advance the play. It may have even caused his fast drop off the face of the Hockey Earth. Erixon throws snow, and is horrible in this sense, which is something that has a high value in a D.

Getting a little worried, but not too much yet, over Kreider. He is a goal scorer who isn't scoring goals. Im sure he will break out of the slump he's in but the season is almost a month in now, hoping he breaks out soon.

On Erixon, guy will be a player in the NHL, hes from what im hearing one of the best, if not the best player on that Springfield team, who has a ton of good players. It was a trade that had to be made when your talking about getting Rick Nash but i'm going to be rooting for Erixon to have a great career, I think he tops out a #2-3 dman, leaning more toward the 2 because i think his offense will really take off.

This is the toughest adjustment Kreider has had to make since his Freshman year at BC.

Nothing is guaranteed. But I am more than willing to cut him some slack.

Don't get me wrong, im not mad at him or something , I just wish I saw a few more goals from him, but like you said, it is a huge adjustment so i'm not going to get worried for another few months.

Eh, the same could be said about McDonagh before he came into the league.

Erixon's top quality, like most swedish defensemen, is his hockey IQ, which is very very good. He made some incredibly intelligent plays on the Rangers last year in the offense zone that I simply haven't seen our defensemen do. I don't think he'll be a game changer, but he will slot in nicely next to a star on the top pairing.

Have you guys seen who Kreider plays with? He constantly is getting passes in his skates, behind him or too far ahead... the low quality of players around him does affect him and his play, no doubt.
