If you guys had a choice of which player we could get, who would you choose. Andre Iguodala or Rudy Gay? Who would be a better fit for our team?
I think Iguodala for a few subtle reasons.
-The volume scoring edge goes to Gay undoubtedly, but if last year and the start of the season is any indication of what's to come, the scoring efficiency edge goes to Iguodala. Iggy's efficiencies last season and this season so far: 45.4%FG 39.4%3PT, and 46.1%FG 32%3PT. Rudy Gay's efficiencies are slightly worse last season and this season: 45.5%FG 31.2%3PT, and 38.9%FG 14.3%3PT this year. Gay is definitely off to a bad start efficiency-speaking, but it's still very early. The slight edge in efficiency is likely due to the pure volume advantage that Gay has, but on the Raptors team, we have quite a few "high volume, low efficiency" scorers already. I feel that Iguodala would have a stronger effect on the overall team efficiency, while Gay would help more with volume.
-One of the main criticisms against Iguodala is that he struggles as being the go-to scorer. On a team with Lowry, Derozan, and *cringe* Bargnani/Calderon, Iggy wouldn't really have to be the #1 option. He could be a comfortable #2a/b option. It would take the pressure off Iguodala to score big numbers, and instead just let him worry about efficiency.
-Probably most importantly, Iguodala would have a greater impact on team toughness and team defense. I think his personality would mesh perfectly with Lowry's tough "bulldog" mentality. I don't hold Iggy's G/F status against him since it could help neutralize two positions defensively depending on the opponent. Gay is a good defender as well, but not as good as Iguodala. As far as neutralizing ability, I like Iguodala vs. Durant more than I like Gay vs. Durant. And with Iggy's #2 guard abilities, we could use him against scoring guards like Kobe. As another example, in that disgusting game vs. Dallas a few days ago, we could have used Iguodala against Mayo, where Gay didn't really have a priority defense target.
The shooting efficiency argument is admittedly a bit weak, but all I'm saying is that as a team we seem to shoot too many 3's as is. Iguodala would probably feel more comfortable grabbing OREB's off the missed long-shots as opposed to taking them himself.
ALSO: Can we not call Iggy "AI"? We're talking about a former star with the 76ers...does AI really make you think of Iguodala instead of one of the most proficient scorers of all time, Allen Iverson?
I kind of feel the same that Iggy would be a better fit. The only problem I see is that he wouldn't sign here as a FA. I mean Gay we can trade for, but realistically if im iggy and I'm a free agent, I have no clue why I would come to toronto.
No Lowry tonight because of his ankle. No Fields either apparently due to injury as well. TSN doesn't say what the injury is, but I presume that he's battling a severe case of suckitis.

Depending on what kind of season he has, Toronto might be the only team to throw a ridiculous contract on him. And he'd be noticed as the star of the show here. Him, Jonas and Lowry plus Derozan and Ross for years is an awesome combo.

I believe I remember reading yesterday on Sportsnet that he was seeing a specialist for his right wrist.
Hopefully he's not just going there to make an excuse that his right wrist is the problem. And if it is, I expect a much better return from him after it's recovered.
Knicks fans have said he wasn't this bad in New York. It is realistic to think he has some kind of injury. I have not watched any Raptors games so it could be true that he just sucks.

I don't know if you've noticed, but thanks to BC we have literally no cap space for a max contract next year. Iggy is going to have A LOT of teams courting him, and he won't choose to come to Toronto for a bargain contract. Plus he isn't a star guy anyways, he's a great secondary piece but Philly could never build around him as the guy.
Hell, I think he might just stay in Denver. They got a good thing going there.

He sucked in New York since the first half of his rookie season, was his hand injured the whole time? The guy is just a scrub that Casey plays a lot to try and justify the contract.

What if MLSE/Rogers/Bell allow us to go into the tax?
Just curious but do any of you post at RealGM? SO many douchenozzles there talk **** about hockey. It's really annoying. I almost want to leave that board cause of the hate. I want to get on my soapbox and rant and rave over there but I'm just afraid it will fall on deaf ears.

LOL for the record it's his right hand/wrist. But I think he injured his hand signing that contract.

Sometimes, but I have the same problem with the game day threads there that I have with the Leafs GDT's here....simply too many people posting for anything productive to be said. Whenever somebody DOES make an interesting comment about the game that MIGHT actually get a decent discussion going, it gets buried under 3 pages of "Nice shot DD" about 90 seconds later.
Raps are looking decent out of the gate. Val with 4 rebounds (2 offensive) already. If he can stay out of foul trouble tonight, he could have a big night with Bynum sitting out. a A SICK slam from Derozan, too.
I assume they're showing it on the regular TSN still right? Just whenever this football game ends.
They haven't said anything, but that would be my guess. Once the football game ends TSN2 will probably switch it's regular schedule and the Raps will get TSN coverage.
