Fucale's 5th game in 7 days + a lot of traveling, he was probably pretty exhausted. I figured that Clarke would have started instead. Oh well, almost a week off and hopefully he'll be all set for Rouyn-Noranda on friday
No one gives a crap about winning bronze or silver when it comes to Canada. If we don't even challenge for gold then it's considered a failure. This is pretty obvious. So not winning gold for 3 years is a pretty big deal whether you like to think it is or not.
The way that they have picked it has been greatly based off of age rather than skill set. If you are a 19 year old energy player, you'll make it over a 17 year old who has boatloads of skill (Nuge, Skinner, etc.). Since these players could have positively impacted the team offensively, shouldn't HC start to rethink how they do things?
And I think you mean Mark Visentin's meltdown wouldn't have been avoided with a 17 year old skill player, but it takes skill to beat skill. Maybe RNH could have been a guy to keep the Russians on their toes for most of the 3rd period and not have Canada back on their heels in their own zone. Who knows, but isn't it worth a shot?
Right.....so, again, your point is that 4 lines of goal scorers would have prevented Visentin and Allen from a meltdown. Awesome!! too bad you dont work for hockey canada!! Here's to hoping they see the light shone from the blog world!!
And, i think your mistaken when you saw we never challenged for gold the last 3 years. we were winning 3-0 heading into the third period two years ago, in the gold medal game, lost the semi by 1 goal another year and lost in the gold medal game the remaining year. If that is not competing for gold...please do explain what is!!
I think what you meant was that if were not winning gold, it's all garbage!
And Russians dont play on their toes...they play all offense, which is why they either make the NHL as scoring forwards or they ride the crappy KHL planes because they can't play the game 180'. Not a lack of talent, but a lack of general hockey sense other than offense. (see Zherdev, Svitov as examples)
Best Russian players??? Datsyuk, Federov, Malkin....these guys play the game 180' Not 60'
HC gets it right most of the time. wether you like it or not
Sawyer Hannay back practicing with the Mooseheads. I guess things didn't work out in Austria since he apparently wasn't even playing for the men's team there.
I would guess they're just giving him a place to practice while he tries to find somewhere else to play, can't see them trading away Gillard to make room for Hannay.
