Not really Z's fault, he's just so tall. But that was principle point of contact to the head (note Satan's head snapping up and backward, instead of down and forward or trailing the movement of the body on a proper shoulder hit) and Z would have missed a couple.
Going back and looking at it, I didn't see Z lead with the forearm. That lowers the point of contact from where I thought it was.You guys are right.
That said, Zatan had his head down and he got himself a real faceful of Z's sweater too. Still, that wasn't a rung bell, that was a skill forward getting the wind knocked out of him by the biggest and strongest man in hockey.
To me that was a perfect legal hit,He never drove his elbows or shoulder into head,He just held his ground like a basketball player does drawing a charge,Satan was not looking,It is his own fault,Need to be awasre of the ice ,and who is on it.
Still have respect for what Miro did during his brief stint with the Bs.
Developed some chemistry with Krejci, got a little hot and scored some clutch goals. Probably somewhat forgotten given the way their run ended that year.
I still say everything was gravy in that playoffs. Team was running on fumes and they were one win from the conf finals. A big part of that was thanks to Miro the Hero.
If this was a hit by someone on Bergeron or Seguin, everyone here would be up in arms and calling it a dirty hit...
No, it was a clean hit. Chara caught Satan in the chest with his upper arm. And a lot of it had to do with timing. It wasn't like Chara went crashing into him at 100 mph. Much of the impact came because Satan was moving so fast; Chara wasn't moving half as much. Speeding car meets brick wall.
People who believe Chara is a dirty player (I'm talking to you, Habs fans) don't seem to understand that if he wanted to, he could seriously injure somebody on practically every shift. That he's played 14 years in the NHL and had one disciplinary hearing shows that the guy knows how to channel his strength.

I'd have taken him back the next year to serve in a third line/reserve role, if he'd been willing to come. It's always nice to have another veteran scorer. I guess they wanted to give that spot to Jordan Caron though.

Yeah, that's probably how it played out. And i am ok with that move. A little riskier in that you are taking a chance on an unproven guy, but it was time to see what Caron had. Unfortunately, he wasnt ready and its we dont know if he will ever be.
