Monahan / Shinkaruk... can't go wrong with Barkov either.
Obviously MacKinnon.

If we dealt our 2014 1st + Kadri we could get another top 12 pick i think

we draft Monahan and then with 8th maybe Shinkaruk

That would cement our top 6 for a generation

Kadri and a 1st is a tad rich for me.

We could probably get CGY's 1st for Grabo easily, but they would probably want to give us Baertschi to make it equal to other CGY-TOR trades. And then move Cmac+Connolly for picks, and move our 2nd+3rd+CGY's 1st+late 1st+2nd for 5th ovr.

2-3 years
Shinkaruk-Monahan-Kessel
JVR-Kadri-Kulemin
Ashton-Bozak-Frattin
line 4

Phaneuf-Rielly
Gardiner-Blacker
Liles-Holzer

Riemer-One of the rest.

For those who don't get to see much of Drouin.

MacKinnon, Barkov, Monahan and Shinkaruk in that order. Mind you, I'm pretty focused on centers and not much else. If I start looking at other positions, I'd probably look at Drouin and Jones just behind MacKinnon and Barkov.

I'm personally not really that interested in Shinkaruk. Just doesn't fill a need.

I'm sure he'll be a good player though.

Agreed on Shinkaruk. Great player and an even better kid, but not what we want with a high pick.

I wrote an article a couple days ago about which prospects best fit the non-playoff teams' needs. Check it out.

There are so many guys in this draft I would be ecstatic if we got!
Mackinnon
Drouin
Jones
Barkov
Monahan
Shinkaruk
Lindholm
Pulock
Nichushkin
Ristolainen

No particular order but I could deal with any of them. Realistically I want Drouin though!

My draftboard right now is:

Mackinnon
Jones
Barkov
Monahan
Lindholm
Drouin
Erne
Pulock
Lazar
Nicushkin
Shinkaruk
Gauthier
Nurse

Unless we can get one of the big 4 centers, I'm more and more ok with taking a defenceman if that's the BPA, notably Jones or Pulock.

Mackinnon, Barkov, and Monahan are probably the only 3 centers who can play in the NHL next year anyway, so position isn't that much of a priority for me. I hope we go hard after Getzlaf in the sumer, maybe Perry too add that to a stacked defence and giddyup.

Gardiner Phaneuf
Rielly Jones/Pulock
Gunnarson Holzer

If we could get MacKinnon, that would be best case scenario, but I think the best player for us would be Monahan, if he develops into the player he seems to be. He is the next Big Boy center in this draft. Not necessarily a PWF, but a center that fits our needs really well. Plays with his strength and can stick up for himself.

They fired Sutter.

Now if the Kings could promote Sutter in LA maybe Kopitar for Kadri and Blacker?

Leafs pick 2013 - Greg Chase, 22nd. overall.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

lol no, if we're at 22 Burke will move up. There's no way he misses out on the elite group of forwards, most of which are centers that could be our #1.

What is Burke offering? You know other teams need 1st. line centers as well, unless they are the Rangers, Kings, Penguins ... and they aren't going to be picking in the top 10.

Of course maybe the Oilers are willing to deal their pick for Phaneuf?

Don't know, but I think he'll be willing to break the bank to jump from 22 to 5ish (3-8), there's tons of skilled potential first line centers and we need them.

Most teams drafting in the top 5 need them.

This new CBA could have a dramatic impact on what teams are willing to move as far as futures go.
