Kid should remain relatively consistent baring injuries.

Granted the Astros are not a great offensive team but he is a clear upgrade over McCollum.
Mccollum was good in junior but melted down in the WJC when pressure was on showing how mentally weak he was and Mrazek played the best hockey of his life.

After those world juniors Mccollum was never the same, Mrazek looked absolutely lights out in his 2 AHL games so far this year though.

He might be a top 5 goalie prospect out there

I wouldn't be saying he's there quite yet. I'm rather high on him myself but there are a few others I would put before him and those aren't even top 10 goalie prospects. I will say he does have more potential then I think most give him. Let's see him prove himself at the AHL level first and we can go from there.

Speaking of goalies, I've liked Olivier Roy so far this year. His stock probably dropped quite a bit in lots of peoples' eyes after that WJC, but he's been a solid pro goalie.

Calm, controlled, makes himself big and aggressively cuts down angles.

He might not be too far from stealing the starting job away from the reigning AHL Goaltender of the Year, Danis.

Is Bunz in the ECHL because Roy and Danis were better in camp, or because he's the youngest of the group?

I would assume it's the latter. I don't really recall there being a gap between Roy and Bunz at the prospect camp.

I think they're probably going to have Roy and Bunz follow a similar three year plan. Something like: ECHL starter -> AHL back-up -> AHL starter.

Then hopefully somewhere in there Perhonen comes over and does the same.

I like that path for young goalies of any calibre. Let them work their way up at a slow pace, because confidence is so important for a young goalie.

I'm hoping Roy steals the #1 spot this season, then Bunz can back him up next year.

Your obviously right. But lets see him put up 20 games in the AHL with a .920 or better and he is right in the discussion (as long as we don't count Bernier, Schneider, Rask). Before these two AHL games most reports I saw had him right around the 10th spot. FYI he beat Campbell for his first win.

Only Charlotte, Lake Erie and Rochester have more goals then Houston in the AHL. They are pretty dang good offensively, even with Granlund and Brodin hurt.

If you look at goals per game the Aeros are 9th. Portland, Norfolk, Springfield, Syracuse and Abbotsford all have a better goals per game than Houston and Lake Erie actually has a worse goals per game.

Right now 15 teams are averaging 3 or more goals per game though, its definitely a high scoring year.

Given how good Horak has looked in Abbotsford so far that deal may not wind up being too bad for Calgary. Maybe Erixon did the Flames a favour.

I doubt it Erixon is easily the best skilled player in that traded after the draft picks were made, but we got what we could so we will see what happens.

Ya my bad. I got the Aeros (strong offensivelY) confused with the Texas Stars (horrible offensively), who he beat the night before. I thought he played the Stars twice rather than Stars then Aeros back to back.

Charlie Coyle has to be in discussion for top 10 prospect. The kid hasn't missed a beat going from college to the QMJHL to the QMJHL playoffs to the AHL. He's a hellovaprospect. Better than I expected and now I can see why Fletcher had him as the main piece coming back from the Burns trade.

I'm not sure that he's there (top 10) but he looks like a surefire top 6 NHL forward IMO.

Top 10 overall prospects, probably not. Top 10 prospects in the AHL(not including NHL guys like Eberle, RNH, Gardiner, etc) damn near.

Patrick Cehlin 3 pt. night. 8 pts in 9 games. I remember him torching it up in the WJC.

Erixon with 2 goals, he is a very talented blue chip prospect. 8 pts in 10 games. IMO one of best defenders in AHL.

Americans Game agains the Phantoms was last night. Few things I took:

Girgensens looked pretty solid to me. Feet moving and was physical.
Not a prospect but I love David Leggio. He is a solid AHL goalie and makes some big saves.
Foligno fought Bourdon and got the better of him. Love Foligno as a player, always making something happen.
Rinaldo likes to stir the pot. As a Sabres fan I hate him, but Him and Foligno have a rivalry going to back to junior. I wouldnt be suprised if they fight just a bit in the NHL when they face eachother.

I was paying more attention to the Americans so no notes on the Phantoms.

Also, Hodgson stirs the drink in Rochester. The offense just wasnt the same without him IMO

6 of Erixon's 8 points came against his former team.

He's looked good so far but it hasn't really translated onto the scoreboard. Missed a couple of weeks through injury but now has 2 points in 3 games. Seems to me like he took a bit of time to adjust to the AHL. He'll start racking them up soon.

Mark Stone is looking like a stud. Skating is not at all a problem, which is average right now id say , not bad for a 6 ft 3 200 pound player.

He's all hockey sense. Right place , right time , right play , every time.

Lehner is also looking pretty good.

Vatanen is sitting tonight. No word on why, yet. He wasn't even listed amongst the scratches.

Cehlin's start is interesting. He had stalled completely in Sweden, he basically had three exact similar seasons. His game just might be better suited for the smaller ice surface, closer to the net for a guy who likes to drive it.

Stan Galiev has struggled so far for Hershey. He dominated in St. Johns last year and for whatever reason he has had a hard time adjusting to the AHL. Some people even considered him making Washington's opening night roster.
