Linda running for Senate had nothing to do with WWE being PG, and everything to do with the sponsorships WWE has, i.e. Mattel. Moving from PG to TV-14 would jeopardize those relationships, and WWE loses money, which they aren't going to do for a minority of the audience that grew up with the Attitude Era.

Their main demographic is 18-34, so why cater to kids? If that's your main demographic, you put out edgy programming, plain and simple.

Because kids are the ones that sell the merchandise.

I expect some bitter political skits on Raw this week or next.

Because its catered to kids. Look at Punk's t-shirt FFS. All of Cena's t-shirts. Austin 3:16 t-shirts sold to every demographic. It's targeting your audience. WWE's REAL audience and main demographic is 18-34. It's time to cater to them.

WWE pushed out "edgy programming" in the late 90's because A) They pretty much had to change it up due to losing money/getting killed in the ratings by WCW, and B) They found something that they could take from, that being ECW. WWE has no competition now, so they can play it safe and please their sponsors rather than push the envelope with a 2nd Attitude Era. It simply won't work. They do need to shake up their product, but unless WWE wants to lose millions of dollars in sponsorships, they're not going to bring back the blood, sexual content, barbed wire, thumbtacks, etc in the hopes that they may boost their ratings by a 0.5.

Edgy programming does not equate to blood, sex or barbed wire. Don't get the two twisted.
