It's refreshing to see a kid with this kind of skill on the back end that doesn't always play the cautious safe approach. We need more Morgan Rielly's.

I can't see him not making an immediate impact in the NHL. He's that good imo.
It's gotten so bad here, that Leaf fans have to make fake handles/accounts just to post anything positive about their prospect without being flamed to death

TBH, the WHL Livestream is the best quality of any league. AHL Live is atrocious and I would never spend a dime on it, but I do see value in purchasing the WHL one.
I watch the Q and the streams are horrendous, figured all CHL was.

Can't wait for Morgan Rielly's turn against the Russians. He was one of the standouts for team Canada in the "Challenge" tournament and I expect he will be again. I want to see him crank up the speed .

aha no, no. Wasn't directed at anyone. I just keep hearing things making it sound like our fans think he's a can't miss. Kind of wanted to adress it is all. I'm hesitant to say he is a safe bet for top pairing, but yeah the potential is there.

No fake handles, just a passionate hockey fan who enjoys following prospects. Rielly is a special kind of talent. I have no problem as a habs fan praising a player who I believe will be a star.

Judging prospects is a difficult task and nothing is a sure thing, we need to use probabilities when judging their future. IMO it is highly probable that he becomes a great dman in the NHL. His skillset is hard to match. Those posting negative comments do so without offering explanations, everything we have seen from this kid so far points to him having an excellent career, he may not, but the risk is minimal imo.

I hope Galchenyuk turns into a stud for you guys.

Thanks for being a cool Habs fan.

Yeah I'm super excited to have Rielly. I agree that the risk is minimal, with elite skating and hockey sense, combined with adequate size it's hard to see Rielly fail.

I have similar feelings towards Galchenyuk as you do Rielly. Galchenyuk is the guy I wanted most for the Leafs, and I think he will be a Toews like player in the NHL.

Interesting that both our teams drafted players who missed virtually the entire season with the same injury. Both players have put that behind them now, Galchenyuk is really finding his groove again. I think the knee injuries were the greatest and only signigicant risk involved with both prospects.

We're all cool in our own way and thanks for not offering Bozak ++ for him.

I'm a fan of Rielly also and he was my favourite d-man in the draft last year.

He's the best drafted Leaf player since Clark in 85'. The Leafs finally got a break. If Rielly wasn't injured last season, no way is he around at #5 for the Leafs to take. They got a guy who could have gone first or second overall. He's a stud prospect.

I am a leaf fan, and I am excited about him. But he has about as good of a chance to end up on the third pairing as he does the first right now.
You're tempering your expectations too much with this comment.

Luke Schenn did not have any elite skills. Morgan Rielly does.

I suppose anyone who brings up Luke Schenn should really think about that basic point.

Ok buddy. So you're saying two d men, both drafted 5th overall by the leafs, who's fans then extremely hyped them, have nothing in common?

Besides the position they play and where the two were drafted, they absolutely have nothing in common.

Try watching some games.

Rielly could turn just as good if not better than Galchenyuk. Or not...

But I am ashamed of some of my fellow Habs fans nonetheless.

They were drafted 5th overall, are defenseman, and were/are highly regarded amongst Leafs fans.

That's all they have in common

Every team overhypes their guys. It's when other teams fans are hyping someone its usually true. They're completely different players

That's about all they have in common. Luke and Morgan are two totally different players with two different strengths. You won't see Morgan leading the league in hits in the same way you won't see Luke doing particularly well in the points category. Watch Morgan play and try to find the similarities.

I'm pretty sure Rielly could skate rings around Schenn even if he had a backpack of lead weights on.

Now I dont think Rielly is another Luke Schenn, but I'm sure everyone including yourself remembers hearing about his elite defensive skill and play in his own zone, coupled with his physicality. He then had a good world junior and the hype increased.

Schenn was hyped, dont pretend he wasnt. He was the next Adam Foote in most leaf fans eyes.

I just remember Schenn being touted as having a top shutdown and physical game. Remember when he was ''The Eraser"... Anyone?
