Goalie skates work that much better after they are sharpened for the first time since being bought three months ago. One of my goalie's found that out today. Amazed he's been able to stand up, much less play goal for the past three months! Looking forward to watching his progress skyrocket in the next couple weeks as he now gets used to the new found edges on his blades...

Seems the lockout may have actually been a blessing in disguise. I don't know how much, if any, damage the NY/NJ team buildings took, but I have to imagine that a few games would have been postponed just due to closed airports and no power and a lack of transportation in the city.

They already canceled the NBA game in Brooklyn tonight so my guess is at least a couple. I remember a few years ago the Bucks played the Nets during one of those huge blizzards the Northeast gets from time to time and there was basically nobody there.

And in 2010, too--when the interstates were all but impassable. That said, I'll give 'em a pass, even though some people didn't give us one when a tornado was coming through and we were playing Anaheim.

Certain Canadians: But they're playing the Stanley Cup Champions--it's just a tornado. They just don't support their team. They should move...here! Wah wah...big babies.

Recently got back from our trip to the USA, now back in Taiwan.

Chicago was fun, lost our passports in O'Hare when we headed down to Florida, luckily got our passports back.

Florida was fun as well, we prefer the western>eastern coast of Florida. Sandy hit us while we were there but no where near as bad as it hit other areas of course. The Yacht show was a lot of fun and my wife made a lot of contacts which is great since she'll be starting out on her own company soon.

Got cursed at by a K9 Cop in Fort Lauderdale, didn't really appreciate that.

Otherwise, was a great trip.

Now have to play catch up with grad school work I missed/didn't do while away, midterms this week and lots of reading to catch up on, vacation is fun while it's vacation, catching up afterwards is not fun.

CFL playoffs begin today, I think Edmonton beats Toronto at home. They just have their number. Calgary by a rouge over SSK.

(Hey, if Worse and crew can chat about MLS and Premier, I can talk CFL)

Top 3 teams in the BCS won't be SEC teams. Viqsi should be happy.

People outside Canada pay attention to the CFL? Heck, outside of a few concentrated areas, much of canada doesn't watch the CFL.

I like some of the rules of the CFL, I like the history, also I like the oddities of CFL. (Halfback is a defensive position, Rouges, Soccer field size field, 12 men, Team Histories, ETC)

A friend and I worked on a synerio where the CFL and NFL merge, dispersal draft of talent to get the CFL close to par, and the CFL would contract 5 teams and CFL teams would get first dibs of talent.

As hockey fans, we're perhaps a little more plugged into Canadian sporting culture than the typical American sports fan, but I like the speed of the game (more in line with college football than the sluggish NFL) and the fact that every play is designed to gain big chunks of yards because of the three downs. Once you get past some of the relative oddities - my first Canadian football game, Chris Cuthbert said, "Hamilton punting on third and three from their own 52" - it's actually really fun to watch. It's almost like the Big XII without the marching bands.

Plus, I really like the names. Andy Fantuz? Nobody can touch that in the NFL.

Hah, well it's just good to know that it has some form of popularity south of the 49th parallel. They're both entertaining in their own different ways. It's nice to have the variety. Obviously the skill level is higher in the NFL, but there's something about the rivalries in the CFL that gets me goin.

Big storm around Thanksgiving. I was there only live 6 miles away. The game was against the wings, and no it wasn't packed.

Most goalies I've known prefer dull skates to sharp.

It would be fun in Nashville because everyone pretty much goes into Snow Day mode--we hole up, eat our chili, drink the beer and milk we stood in long lines to get, and hope the power stays on.

Then it's over and we have 70 degree weather again.

Yeah, I have two school aged cousins (well one now, the other is in college) that live in Tennessee. They lived in Wisconsin for pretty much their whole lives other than one being born in California and a short stay in Arizona. They moved to Tennessee and were ecstatic to learn that a couple of inches of snow would get them a snow day lol.

A couple of inches? All you have to do is have a threat of snow in the forecast and some counties will shut down!

Yeah, I've heard that.

I was being generous because I wasn't sure if they cancelled stuff due to the threat of snow or a couple inches. I can understand it either way. With limited snow plows and people who aren't used to driving in snow or who don't drive in it often, it can be dangerous even with just a little bit.

I do remember my aunt calling my mom once and telling me they cancelled school because of a dusting of snow, which me and my brothers thought was totally unfair.

I took that. I had the Sabres last which is the second least guessed.

So I was randomly flipping through channels tonight because there was nothing else on that interested me and I came across the state championship football playoffs (which was a great game btw) and there was a kid for one of the teams named Mason Dixon. I don't know if his parents intentionally named him that or anything but that is an awesome name.

Of course they named him that on purpose. Just like the parents of a kid I know named Justin Case
