Jet Lag - Death of the Winnipeg Jets, 10 years later

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since the Jets died. The Winnipeg Sun is running a series of specials this week about the departure of the team and the effect it has had on the city. So far it's been a very interesting read.

Man....I wish they never left. Hopefully Winnipeg will have a team again someday.

That is sad. I hated to see the Jets go. Nordiques and Whalers too for that matter. Can't believe it's been 10 years now.

Hey, I thought I'd be the one to mention this. Ten years ago today (April 28, 1996) they played their last game, which I was fortunate enough to be at.

Didn't know about the Sun series, though. Thanks for the great read.....

I miss the JETS as well they were our last AHL affiliate. The Moncton Hawks ceased in 1994. Alpo will always be my favourite first name for a coach. GM Smith loved the Europeans when it wasn't fashionable.
I thought hockey would end here forever and then came the Q in 1995 and life went on. Still have my Hawks Blue away sweater and my White home sweater in Jets colours. Long live the Red White and Blue of the Jets/Hawks

I think this is the final day of the series by the Winnipeg Sun.

Plenty of competition

Not unless the NHL regresses significantly.

Was that really necessary?
