First guy that comes to mind for me is Randy Burridge. Not the most talented guy on the team, but I remember him being all heart.

Dave Reid, Nevin Markwart, Keith Crowder, Jonathan, Wensink, Steve Leach, Bobby Carpenter, Dave Poulin and Ken Linesman all come to mind pretty quickly.

When Guy Lafleur calls him the hardest player to play against you know that he's pretty good. I still hate the fact that Marcotte never won the Selke Trophy.

Yeah I always think about when he hit the post in OT of the too many men game, can you inagine how big of a hero he'd have been seen as if that puck went a few inches more inward...

Some that haven't been mentioned yet Geoff Courtnall, Brad McCrimmon, PJ Stock, and from the current roster Chris Kelly.

I dunno, I know O'Reilly started out as the consummate grinder but when I think of the Bruins through the years I always put him in the upper echelon, so to speak. After all, his number's in the rafters.

I'm thinking the OP was talking about unsung hero types. The Chris Kelly type of guys, as LSC noted.

Muzz is a favorite of mine and didn't deserve the crap from some "fans". He played with so much heart and was quite a leader on the B's. I wish he would come to a game. Most of the STH I know respect and like him.

I also liked Derek Sanderson, Joe Juneau, Dennis Wideman ...many more

His coaching stint pretty much killed all goodwill towards him but I was a fan of Steve Kasper's game.

Unsung hero lists are always going to be heavy on checking line forwards - I'd add Rob DiMaio and Tim Taylor.

Couple guys from the late 80s teams that didn't have long careers with the Bruins that I always liked and even followed after they left - Dave Christian (liked him even as a Cap) and Garry Galley.

Yeah, I agree that Axelsson definitely tops my list if we're talking about the not-so-distant past.

Michael Ryder, he'll never be confused for a hard nosed gritty typical Bruin but he always showed up in big situations and was a warrior in the playoffs. He played in 4 Bruins-Habs series, 2 with each team and went 4-0 in them. He especially stepped up vs the Habs as a member of the Bruins. PJ Axellson is also on the list, if there ever was an award for a Bruin who gave his all through some of the toughest Bruins seasons he'd get it. Lastly Marco Sturm's goal face makes my list.
