If the PA made a proposal and the NHL countered and they're still meeting tomorrow it can't be too bad right?
I love it how everytime a day of talks wraps up, the next day becomes "huge" and that days talks weren't so much of a big deal anymore. Even if they are nearly there it's still going to take forever to wrap all of this up.
I'd say we're still a week to two weeks away. I do think they will get something done though. December 1st seems like the date a lot of insiders and writers are mentioning, and it's still about 3 weeks from now. If they can wrap this up in the next week, they'll have a couple weeks to prepare everything.
I think they are making progress now. The grin on Bettman's face, him joking around with the media and wishing them a good night after the negotiaons yesterday makes me think that. It was certainly a happier Gary Bettman than we've seen speaking to the media before.
Let's just hope they're back at it tomorrow, and show they can move beyond the rhetoric and get back to work. I really hope this doesn't turn into a deep freeze, but today was seemingly very discouraging.
Apparently no progress at all in today's meetings. Fehr is destroying this league.
I'm no fan of Fehr, but the owners are quite annoying as well. After everything they got in the last contract, the very next contract requires them to pull a groundhog day? Things are so dire that we need to likely lose another season? They got everything they wanted last time and it still requires losing another season this time? **** 'em.
Both sides pretty much never got serious until this past week, just blowing off the first two months of the season. You know, they are both just taking the fans for granted, even though they will never say that. I'm fed up with both of them, even if ultimately we find one was/is more to blame.
