No. We arent making the playoffs. Too many question marks.
-No number 1 center
-Can Kessel and Lupul pickup where they left off?
-Scrivens is struggling in the AHL
-No guarantees on Reimer either
-Not sold on the bottom 6 at all
-Does Gardiner suffer the sophomore curse?
-Can Kadri crack the lineup?
-Can Colborne crack the lineup?
-How will our team react to a new system under Carlyle?
-Can JML rebound from the concussion?

Too many variables/questions to this season. And I dont see it looking good.

I doubt we will make the playoffs, but at the same time maybe they could succeed this year because of low expectations.

After last year, I think everyone's expectations flew out the window and many of us don't see this team as better than being a bottom feeder.

Add to that that this team is currently cream-puff soft

Usually???

Short memory?

They usually start slow then finish on a good streak.

Last year was an anomaly.

Worried about a 9th or 10th place finish. Team isn't good enough to make the playoffs but I wouldn't guarantee a top 5 pick either. You need to be really really and and I just get the feeling we will be 25-28-7 (60 games) type team which is somewhere around 10th or 11th place.

Idk we aren't a great team but I feel like we are good enough, or at least will play ourselves outta top 5. One more win last year, and we would have had 7th overall, and that was after falling off a cliff. It actually seems really hard to be THAT bad cause it seems there are teams that are always worse. Even after an 0-7-1 start in 2009-2010, we only ended up a few points away from awarding Boston with a pick out of the top 5. Had we managed 4 more wins that season, so just one more win every 6 weeks, Boston would be picking Burmistrov. Like you have to be really bad, and we just don't ever seem to be really bad enough.

The way you used the example how Toronto was maybe 4 more wins from not giving Boston a top 5 pick in 2010, one year before Toronto was at least 1 more loss from getting the 5th pick in 2009 (Brayden Schenn) and instead they ended up with the 7th over pick (Nazem Kadri) because they won their last game of that season vs Ottawa.

Well,

If you look at last year we played well up until the 2nd half, we were getting by on outskating our opponents and having an elite top line, what killed us was weak defensive play/horrible goaltending/teams trapping us in the neutral zone.

I think with a shortened season (assumig there is one) it will work to our advantage, we will have our legs, and we won't or shouldn't burn out in a half season. So, yes I think IF there is a season we have a good shot at the playoffs.

Good call. Either way, I'm not sure if our own play will put us top 5. It sure won't put us in the playoffs though.

I think when you look at nj losing parise caps losing semin buffalo losing roy, flyers losing carle, JVR goalie bob ottawa losing konokpa filngo kuba panthers losing garrison a lot of teams in the east have gotten worse I think the gap is closing and we could sneak in

Just about any team could make the playoffs now..

Many team have older players who will take time to find their legs(20 to 30 games) by then the season is over.Plus our team is young,I would rate our chances as 50/50 and the Blue Jays just raised the stakes putting pressure on the Leafs. In a shortened year, anything can happen.
