Anyone have a scouting report on Tristan jarry of the oil kings? Seems like a goalie we could take a flyer on in the mid rounds

How do you know that? It all depends on the lottery, if there is not a season.

If there is no season Leafs pick between 0 and 31.

I agree with good ol' LR.

Monahan and Drouin are my top picks.

Although realistically I'd be thrilled with any of the top centermen. It really all depends on where we end up drafting of course.

Draft a top flight center, trade for/sign some goalie insurance and I think we're well on our way to getting this thing rebuilt.

I love Drouin and he's highly skilled, but honestly I don't think he's what/who we need. When he plays in the NHL he's more then likely to remain a winger, which we have an abundance of Top wingers.

My Top 10

Mackinnon
Barkov
Monahan
Jones
Drouin
Shinkaruk
Lindholm
Ristolainen
Pulock
Nichuskin

I'm not a fan of Lazar...

If Drouin is the BPA i'd take him. We have some solid winger prospects, but I don't see any of them becoming 1st line wingers, and perhaps not even 2nd line wingers. Kessel is our 1 legit top line winger, and Lupul appears to be another, but he's a UFA so we could lose him. Hopefully JVR is successful here, but there's a chance he won't be. So it definitely couldn't hurt to add a potential top line winger like Drouin IMO.

His natural position is centre. I think there's a very good chance he would end up there in the NHL.

This is one of the most "talented" drafts I have seen of in quite some time.

There's going to be a lot of interesting and exciting picks in the Top 10 that have the raw talent to be very good players in the NHL someday.

If a lot of these youngsters can continue their development we could see this as one of the deepest drafts in terms of Top end talent in the last dozen years or so.

If we get a top 5 pick, we will have a good chance of landing a potential #1C.

Personally, my order for our needs would be:

MacKinnon
Barkov
Lindholm
Monahan
Drouin/Shinkaruk

I am going to be very sad if the draft lottery screws us over and we end up picking out of the top 5. We've suffered since the last lockout, let us have #1!

Drouin's never played center in junior or midget, so he may end up being there in the NHL, but I think he's better suited on the wings right now....

November Ranking

Top 5

Seth Jones *
Ryan Pulock *
Sean Monahan *
Valeri Nickhuskin
Nathan Mackinnon +

Outside Top 5.

Shinkaruk *
Drouin
Dickinson

Need to see more of Bartov on the world scene, but he could move inside top 5
Same for Lindholm.

Drouin is a similar type of player to Eberle and Giroux. Not big and not a powerful skater, but quick and very clever. The beauty of these types of players, they can easily play centre but also able to shift over to the wing without any adjustment.
Similar to both Giroux and Eberle, he might be getting undersold a little in this draft due to his size, but may end up being one of the best player in this draft class.

It increasingly appears there wont be a season this year.

So it will come down to this lottery method of selecting the draft order for 2013 June draft.

I have a few questions on this process.

If say a team with 3 balls has one of there 3 balls pulled for say 1st pick, does that mean there 2 other balls are fished out of the bowl?

The Leafs chances of getting a top 5 pick are actually quite good, not necessarily the top pick but top 5.

If not and say we draft 7-8 i think Burke has to be ready to deal what ever assets our required to get a shot at Monahan. He is the player that will end our search for a top centre that has lasted since Sundin departed.

I just hope we dont need to spend assets moving up to draft him

J Drouin reminds me of a younger Simon Gagne. Not a bad thing, but not a top 5 player in this draft.

To be honest he reminds me of Alex Tanguay. Both have excellent hands though.

Our chanes at a top 5 pick are no better than decent. If they increased the window of futility from 3 to 4 or more years, then our shot at a top 5 pick would be quite good

I would agree, if we go into the season with Reimer as the #1G and he doesn't find his form from 2010-11, we could/should land another lottery pick.

Jones-Mackinnon-Monahan-Pulock-Nickhushkin-Bartov would be great adds to Reilly and co.

Chuck do you have any personal favourites yet? Or opinion on how we should interpret the success of both Barkov and Lindholm in comparison to Drouin, Monahan, and Mackinnon for example?

Still on the Barkov trian, have been since last year.
