Cornwall Colts 3 Hawkesbury Hackers 2

The game started very sloppy, unorganized, extremely poor play. Shawn Anderson's playbook is very simple dump and chase and hit everything you can first puck second.

Brandon Bussey had his usual game worked hard instigated where and when he could, but he he got hurt trying to hit a Colt and at the sametime the Hawks bench opened up for a player change and Bussey ended up tangled between the bench & a couple of players he was visibly shaken and needed assistance but returned to continue the game. Mathieu Galipeau penalized for a head shot to Sean King. Carmine Guerriero(G) impressed me with his steady play earning 2nd star honors with 48 saves.

Hawkesbury picked up Ryan Kruss (D) from the Cornwall Colts for 2nd RDC 2013.

The Colts started of bad but picked up midway through the second when the Hawks up 2 - 0 started taken bad penalties.Billy Ulrick played a very good game scoring the game winner and playing on the penalty kill over and over earning him the 3rd star. Michael Pontarelli the game's 1st star scored the Colts 2nd goal and relentlessly shooting on Guerriero making it a battle between the two on several occasions.

My unsung hero for Cornwall was Brandon Howes very good defensively. Edwardson played well.

Yes Pembroke probably has the second best D...CP's 5,6 guys are much much better than Pembrokes. That is why I think CP has the best D. Weidaeur is also the best D in the league IMHO

CP maybe need goalie before getting a goal scorer....
Just curious, who were the 7 players missing for Nepean?

Not my post...but I'm guessing....Hedges, Norris, Watt, Yarwood, Herlihey, Diaz, Debrincat (Herlihey still injured, Pointstreak wrong).

Zawadski, stole that game.

Very impressive for Martin getting his 4th shutout in 6 games! What do you guys think of St-Germain? He is posting good numbers but the one game I saw him he was not really tested

Does not look like he played poorly according to gamesheet(42 of 45).
Maybe the shots were exaggerated as usual...

Played well. No chance on either goal (5 on 3 PP and 3 on 1 break).

Tugnutt and Thompson. They brought in all the new kids from prep school and US junior. Has a single one of them panned out?

Wheels have certainly fallen off. It looked like the talent was there to compete for a playoff spot, they had a 6-0-1 pre-season and looked competitive 12 games into regular season going 4-6-2. Since then they are 1-9-0..... have lost any early season momentum they had.

It may not be just the owners, even if your bring the proper players in but they are not played properly by the coach then you still will not win. From the 4 games I have seen Kemptville play it seems like the majority of their 'new' players get no ice time. That can cause players to lose confidence and to not develop properly.

Agreed, CP overwhelmed SF. although SF is a lot faster as a team they were just outplayed by CP. The real difference was the size of the ice surface and Martin did not have his best game today. He is often the difference maker for SF.

Not the best game by the Braves, but they have the talent. Lets just get it all going on the same night.

Nepean survives 5 games without the big guns, Norris & Hedges. 3 wins 2 losses. They had to rely on goaltending to do it, both Zawadski and Mulder were their best players in that stretch. Mulder has been great, wicked save percentage, is Kemptville cursed, they swapped Mulder for Brindimour, and Mulder is on fire this year. As we near the mid-way mark, it is clear that Nepean & Pembroke are not going to be as dominent in this league this year as most of us thought. I think Nepean has the best goaltending in the league which should give them the advantage in the push for first place.
I'm looking forward to the Nep. Vs Smith-F, Friday night game in Smith Falls, first time these teams have met this year. New arena is a pleasure to watch game in.

Is there any other votes for best defensemen in the league today? Weidauer is the consensus number 1, I like Watson from Kanata as number 2. (really I think he is #1 but I won't win that argument, No I'm not his mother). How about Akeson or someone else??

I think Nepean is dominant if they can get everyone in the line-up at the same time. Yarwood is a key player who has not played in a while that everyone forgets about. If they can add a good defenseman in my opinion no other team is even close.

I think after those 2 Dmen no one else in the league is close this year.

Yes Akeson and Debrincat both have lots of points but neither can play in their own end...Akeson is better than Debrincat tho.

As for 73s Its not the goalies themselves its the team they play behind. Both goalies had better numbers behind the better team...pretty easy to explain. A good goalie can have a 900 Save percentage on a bad or average team. Ask Guerriero
