Same here. He has a great chin, good boxing & good TDD. On top of that the hype won't worry rampage, it's Glover who has never fought that level of competition. Great fight.

As a guida homer I'm glad they are giving him a legit contender in his first fight. I'm not sure blanketing hioki is a smart gm plan, the guy has some of the best ground gm in the division & is dangerous off his back.

Looking like a great fox card again, building 125 on network tv is also a good move.

Strikeforce returns on January 12th:

Gilbert Melendez vs. Pat Healy (LW title fight)
Luke Rockhold vs. Lorenz Larkin (MW title fight)
Nate Marquardt vs. Tarec Saffiedine (WW title fight)
Daniel Cormier vs Dion Staring

http://mmajunkie.com/news/31510/stri...tle-fights.mma

At this point I don't even care who Cormier fights. I just want him to finish his Strikeforce deal and then go to the UFC.

Last Strikeforce event?

Just for the hell of it I checked out this Dion guy on wikipedia, what stuck out to me is he seems to have a win against Akira Corassani, a 145er from TUF a couple of seasons ago. I'v heard of strange size mismatches, but how is that even possible?

Good chance it will be.

Putting all their title fights on one card is a pretty good indication the end is near. Can't see what a follow up card would be.

Contract wise, would happen if they folded? Would zuffa retain the contracts or are they all Showtime contracts?

If bellator could find success on spike & grab a few high end SF fighters to add to their stable, we would have a very viable second option. Behind the UFC for the long haul obviously, but nice none the less.

What a waste. Hopefully he comes out of the fight injury free and can be fighting a top 5 guy in like April/May.

Eh, doesn't really bother me, it's not like there's anyone better Strikeforce could give him, and I'd rather see him fight on the last card opposed to not fighting. Plus it's one step closer to fighting in the UFC.

Dan Henderson is nearly set for his first fight since an injury forced him out of a title fight with UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Henderson (29-8 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will meet fellow contender Lyoto Machida (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) at UFC 156 on Super Bowl weekend, he told Spike TV's "MMA Uncensored Live" on Thursday.

I completely understand how people would like the Hendo-Machida fight, but I personally do not. Hendo earned his title shot, and he's the only interesting guy left. What if Machida beats him? We get Jones-Machida again? I'd rather Hendo get a shot at him before that happens. Assuming Glover beats Rampage (which is no guarantee) you could have him and Machida fight, or if Gustafsson beats Shogun (which I doubt), then you could have him face Machida with the winner fighting Jones. Or, if GSP turns down the Silva fight, have Hendo fight Silva at either 185 or 205 (assuming Silva won't fight Weidman, which seems to be the case right now). All of those are better options IMO.

I think Glover's around -170 in the Rampage fight.

All subjective, I guess. He does have wins over a pile of UFC champs though.... Ortiz, Couture, Evans, Rua*, Griffin, Jackson*.

(* = controversial win vs Rua, even more controversial "loss" to Jackson)

I'm not saying he's quite on the same level as Henderson, but he's still one of the greatest LHWs ever.

UFC 157 targeted for Feb. 23rd in Anaheim. Gotta imagine that Nick Diaz/Josh Koscheck will be on that card, likely the co-main event. Not sure what the main event could be, doesn't look like there will be any title fights that would be ready to go at that time unless Dominick Cruz is ready to fight. Personally I'd like to see the Henderson/Machida fight be the headliner, that fight should be a 5 rounder.

Seems like a spot to slide in Rousey if she's coming aboard. Also imagine Faber would be on that card, though not in the main event. If Cruz isn't back maybe Barao v Michael McDonald.

I'm not so sure. Henderson has looked a lot better at the heavier weights than he did against Shields (yikes). Machida may very well beat him, but I wouldn't be so matter-of-fact about it, personally.

It'll be over a year since Henderson last fought, plus he's coming off an injury. His cardio is poor and his wrestling won't be able to stifle Machida. It's Henderson's right hand vs. Machida's all around superior standup game.

I know the fight should've been scored the other way, but Machida did lose to Rampage, who is arguably a similar, or at his point even lesser version of Hendo.
