Imagine if someone other than him (Puempel) was scoring for the team... He's scoring close to 30% of his teams goals this year. No doubt Spott is taking notice.
Elsewhere Grigorenko is ripping the Q to absolute Shreds. I'd say there's 10 teams somewhere wishing they selected him before Buffalo.

he was so close getting to us. you think bmurr would have selected him over ceci?

Ya but what about the quality of competition? 2 pts per game is not unseen in that league...
Mike Hoffman totally dominated the Q before too... And I still see 2 absolute unknowns (never heard of them) outscoring Grigorenko... Ben Duffy and Josh Currie???
That being said, it's still a perfect start of the season for him, let's see how long he keeps it up

Yup, this can't be said enough times. People quickly forget that it's not the actual draft order that matters, but what the internal draft rankings were... Ceci was very high on OUR list and we got him at 15th = steal.
That they were right or wrong to see him that high is another question... to be answered in several years (to fools : i.e. not in a few months)
Our #1 need going into the draft was a top 4 RD - with Lee gone, Gonchar getting old it was out top organizational need. Next need would have been a top 4 LD with Kuba gone and we got Methot.
Last season we needed Center, RW & LW prospects and we got all of that in the 1st round - I like the way the Murray's are drafting - there is more to drafting then taking BPA - you need to focus your draft so you have a balanced team and are stacked a C + D. Ottawa has done that with Karlsson, Cowen, Rundbald = Turris, our 2011 forward class from the 1st round and last year getting Ceci.
I don't think any of us can critize any of these picks, remeber when Cowne was a bust and MSP was the next Bure - I think Noessen, Prince, Stone, Borocop - these types of picks show us how wise the Murray's are at getting value with their picks.
Puempel has me interested now. 3rd in goal scoring and leading his teamto the top of the division while most of the tean is under performing.
Without getting too excited, this is exactly what we should hope for from our prospects... Progress.
Impressive

I think having Spott as his coach and the role he's taken on for the Rangers this year almost locks a spot for him on team Canada come WJC. I don't know how many previous years players have made team Canada because their coaches feel like they are reliable players and know what they can get out of them. I know in previous years this has applied to more of a role player situation rather than offensive juggernaut, but being top 3 in goals in the O' and top offensive player on the WJC coach's team you would have to think Puempel will be in Russia this December.
Anyone see Puempel's first goal from yesterday? Pure snipage. Very fitting that he wears #73.
#73.....Jarkko "He shoots, he scores!" Ruutu?
The puck explodes off Puempel's stick in a way that not many can make it. Has always seemed to finish well with backhand as well. Scores from range but also scores lots from in tight. He's either gonna be a goal scorer in the NHL or a goal scorer in the AHL.

Yep. Not the greatest feet but great instincts and an overwhelming shot. Potential 30 goal guy. I've been pretty critical of Puempel since he was drafted but going to Kitchener was such a great move for his career. Things are definitely looking up. His skating has actually surprised me.

He in Kitchener is a case of stats not telling the whole story. People see he's in his 2nd year post draft and are upset he doesn't have more points then 21 in 20 but if you watch Kitchener, those numbers are pretty impressive.
I don't remember if it was here or on Twitter we briefly touched on this earlier in the year, but Wikstrand seems to have reached an agreement with Frölunda for next year. http://www.the6thsens.com/2012-artic...froelunda.html

Is it not like the NHL/AHL where a player can be called up at any time?
No, teams in the SEL-2 can be promoted to the SEL and teams from the SEL can be demoted to the SEL-2. There are no farm teams in the SEL and SEL-2, but there are within SEL/SEL-2 and J-20
