You mean the contracts the owners don't want to honour? Those contracts?
Yep. If there's one thing in life I've learned, its that the guys with more money win these battles 99.99% of the time (last week's election being that one exception). These guys will not want to be taken to court by billionaires and their lawyers.

Yeah, they really went after Radulov when he back to Russia didn't they.
Burned! Must be a bit awkward for those who signed a 1 year deal with a new team.
What do they do? Take the same deal again? After not playing 1 year with you, I have decided to move on to a different team.
Sucks hard. This was going to be a big year for Cowen.
Also, neither Weir nor Benoit can replace what Cowen brings. We have no one in the system at the moment to replace that physical game he brought. At least not yet. Boro isn't ready.
If we get a season going fairly soon, I smell a trade-a-brewin...
this is crushing, crushing news. i am very afraid for this kid now, and for the organization. he's counted on to be a huge part of our defence for years, and how he has his 2nd major lower body injury and he'll miss his 2nd almost entire year of development all before he's 22. this is a body blow for the organization. devastating news. i dont think we should be so quick to dismiss this and say he'll heal up and everything will be fine.
I have to say, doom-and-gloom aside (and it's definitely a huge blow), it's a hell of an opportunity for Mike Lundin. Lundin was hailed as a guy was a late bloomer, still on the rise, and compared to some very good NHL defencemen before injuries started cutting into his ice time. He probably would have had more press for his game (which was very solid) had he not played in the obscurity of Tampa Bay. Late bloomer + playing in Florida = completely off most fan's radar.
He brings a game that, when healthy, he can be a very effective shutdown player. Clearly not the physical force Cowen is, and he probably has 20 point upside in the NHL at best, but the guy definitely knows his way around the defensive zone. I thought, when we signed Lundin, that he was a really interesting signing, and if one of our guys went down with an injury, he had the skill to have a really stellar rebound year. All he needed was an opportunity.
Well, Mike, here's your opportunity. Make the most of it...
Benoit wasn't the worst defenseman on the ice when he last played for us. Benoit time.
Problem with Benoit, as much as I like him, is that his skillset is kind of redundant on our team, and does nothing to really replace anything that we'll miss with Cowen on the shelf.
I can definitely see him as the 7th defenceman though, subbing in here and there for some games. I already thought Benoit would see a handful of games this season in Ottawa anyways, but I think with Cowen done, that's almost a guarantee... pending, of course, on whatever the waiver rules will be in the new CBA. Who knows what wacky stuff they'll throw in there.

They'll come back to the NHL if they don't want to risk the IIHF freezing them out of the Olympics in 2014.
The Ottawa Senators are very pleased to select Seth Jones, of the Portland Winterhawks.
Frig, I wish. A shortened season is probably the best time to have an "off year" with a young team haha.
But honestly, no Cowen raises lots of questions.
Assuming Gonchar comes back, I think it's even more probable we trade him sometime this year, unless we are just killing it overall.
****Of course this assumes we will have both hockey and Sergei in NA this year****
This will probably raise our draft selection. Add a young stud D pick to Cowen, Karlsson, Ceci, PattyW, BoroCop, yadda yadda, along with our stocked offensive prospect pool....I like where this rebuild is going.
