Yakupov is a great passer. Everything is hard and on the tape. On the PP he finds seams. Obviously plenty of other players, both CHL and Russian wise are very good to excellent passers, but it just bugs me when I hear people say the guy is one dimensional or that there are clearly other players as good or better than him when it comes to offensive skillsets. I think he's a step above in that department, both passing and shooting wise.

He just goes for the most controversial statements. I was waiting for him to say something like, "Morgan Riley should have went 1st overall".

Damien Cox shouldn't be employed, by every or any media broadcast/corporation that likes to think it has integrity or a single shred of credibility. He's complete garbage. A mouth breather.

It's obvious that yakupov has an elite skill set. He is dangerous every time he is on the ice and there is no doubt he will be just as good as a first overall pick anyone could hope for. All you have to do is watch him out there to see that. Nobody can do everything themselves, put him with any of our stars and he will be deadly.

People are going to debate this until the lockout is over but it's so simple, no need to worry or overthink anything. He's a stud.

I dont like Cox either, but hes not exactly wrong to be critical of Yaks performance these last few games.

Hes trying to do too much and its not working for him. Hes going to be great but no need to coddle him. Hes play atm is underwhelming.

Kypreos was pretty bang on. Russia is not utilizing Yaks. They are just playign defensive and Yaks is triying to hard when he gets a chance.

He's doing too much because he's forced to, like what Kypreos said. Only time he touches the puck for more than 5 seconds is when he's in his own zone, starting the play. The kid has made more successful breakouts and stretch passes than any of his defensemen, which is sad to say the least.

I like how Yaks is condemned to not being on Hall or Hopkins level after playing a trap system in a tournament that I'm sure neither Hopkins nor Hall competed in. Great comparison. Now WJC performances compared might demonstrate something between Hall and him.

Yakupov has looked dangerous tonight, no question. His creativity, elusiveness as well as high IQ have all been evident tonight. He even created a solid breakout in the first after covering in front of his net, intercepting a pass and then decking out two OHLers before exiting the zone. It'd be nice if he was allowed to think offence or be on the receiving end of a breakout instead of covering for his linemates. I thought AK was drafted as a winger...

Hall/Gagner/Eberle
Smyth or Harti/RNH/Hemsky
PRV/Horcoff/Yakupov

I think this could be a decent lineup once the lockout ends.Yakupov gets sheltered minutes on the third line and is playing with Horcoff who can cover for Yak defensively

Goal and a secondary assist on his own goal. That Shalunov is a solid prospect. Powerful kid. Nice seeing eye pass and perfect finish by Yak.

That goal was all Shalunov... what a beautiful pass.

OHL did a great job shutting down the Russians, they had no flow at all tonight. Can't wait to watch Hamilton in the bigs, looks like the real deal.

You gotta give Yakupov some credit for burying it like a bullet and setting up the play when entering the zone. But on the other hand, what a dirty pass. Amazing what happens when the Russians are given a green light, Yaks gets a skilled passing linemate and has the puck returned to him post-entry.
