Oh well. Looks like Larsson and Josefson are busts.

Albany sucks in the shootout. Should probably practice the PP so we won't need as many shootouts. Why did he put Larsson out though?! Should have put Henrique! Also Josefson with a real Zach Parise looking try.

Yes, Josefson is having a solid year so far given the record, but seriously, stop putting him in the shootouts...he hasn't scored once in them

The article itself doesn't really make it sound like Larsson is struggling, so I have no idea why the single-sentence blurb states that Larsson is "struggling mightily in the AHL."
Good article. Larsson has been great this year, and maybe the best player. No more shootouts though Rick! What was he thinking?

To be fair neither has Butler, and he's gone in every game. Nor Henrique who wasn't used today, but 0 for 2 in his 2 tries.

I don't think anyone has scored for Albany other than Whitney today, and I think Anderson Friday? As far as shootouts go this year. If Tedenby had some finish we could have used him last two times. Josefson with his best Zach Parise impression today!

Man though Larsson? In the shootout?

I don't mind Larsson in the shootout, but that's purely for selfish reasons because it's fun to watch.

Did Tedenby even play today?

It's always nice to see Larsson score. He doesn't project to be an offensive defenceman, but it's nice to see he can chip in every now and then.

oh well.....Maybe we should get used to just turning off the "stream"(tv) if the Albany River-Devils( ) end in a tie at the end of OT?

Especially since they almost never win a Shootout.

Tedenby was not in the lineup I don't think. He's been ill, and missed the last 3 games.

Larsson's goal was a blast from the circle that looked to go upstairs. Not sure if it was deflected or not.

I think he can bring some offense. Like I said we can get some much needed scoring that we didn't have last year if only our defense had some offense. Most nights last year it was like trying to get a bunch of Colin White's, and Dano's to score. Aside from Bryce's nice little run in the playoffs.

I see, there is some kind of veterans day hangover. Were schools off in NJ? There were too many kids at sticktime today.

Henrique couldn't shoot because he took a penalty.

Josefson tries the same move every time, but he doesn't sell the backhand enough.

On the bright side, they scored four goals, they played pretty well except for the first few minutes of the third. Even though they lost, they played pretty well.

Is there really a rule that Henrique can't shoot because of the penalty? I never knew that, but it would make sense as to why Larsson went.

I'm not big on D men in shootouts. Larsson would have to blast that thing, and probably from the circle, or at an angle. It's no big deal cause I can't think of many D men having good shootout moves. I remember Nashville using Zidlicky, and Toronto using Kaberle back in the early years of the shootout. Niedermayer would have been a good shootout guy cause we've seen him deke, and some nice moves on breakaways over his career.

Well, I know it's a rule in the NHL so I'm assuming it carries over. Larsson's not the creative type though, but I don't think we can really say anyone else would've been a more viable choice? The rest of the guys are all similar, Wiseman, Zalewski, DeSimone, they aren't really shootout type. Whitney, Butler, JJ, and Anderson are gimmes but the rest aren't really.

Yeah if Henrique wasn't available I'd say there really isn't anybody better. Henrique is 0 for 2 anyway.

I think another forward would have been a better choice but this is arguing over which brand of toilet paper is better.

First career NHL-goal on Larssons birthday last year, first career AHL-goal on his birthday this year.

Maybe the coach wanted to try and ride the hot hand because he had scored earlier in the game? Or it was a reward to him for his solid play? Who knows, it doesn't matter now.

I like having Larsson in the shootout. Not because I think he's the best option or anything, but because I think it's good experience.

I think last year in the NHL it was the day before his birthday! No big deal though.

Yeah. Besides, it's the AHL and I doubt this club will be making the playoffs. Might as well have Larsson practice in case they need him on the last day of the NHL regular season with a spot in the playoffs on the line.
