Please let it be, she is as close to intolerable as it gets for me. One of the main reasons I record games on delay is for skipping the commercials and her stiff interviews.

Not fair IMO... She does whats asked of her well IMO. Those in between period things are always canned questions / responses every single time... She would do good in studio IMO, as good as Arnold or whomever. She also is a big fan, very knowledgeable and very sweet person from what I've been told by folks that personally know her.

From the article,

Quote:
Hextall is the third recent hire by NESN. Jamie Erdahl (FoxSports Midwest) and Adam Pellerin (Fox 25) were hired in late October as anchor/reporters, and should debut on the air shortly.

While the natural suspicion is to wonder whether the arrivals indicate that there are departures on the way, NESN is actually filling spots that have been vacated for a while, including those left by Randy Scott, who went to ESPN in June, and Dara McIntosh.
Anyway, going to NESN from CTV seems to be a step down for her, no?

Also agree that Naoko is OK in my book, those horrible questions are canned and written for her. All the players seem to love her. I'll always remember the big hug Chara gave her during the Cup celebration.

I'm sure she's a lovely person. But I disagree, I don't think she does her job well at all. She's just too mechanical and stiff. Often times the interviews seem awkward . She has very little inflection in here voice too. A good neutral corespondent is one thing, but she's almost devoid of emotion.

If she's knowledgeable she doesn't show it at all. She just regurgitates (or is only allowed to) the story line at that time. "Claude wants the boys to tighten things up" well no ****, when doesn't he? In her defense they probably don't want her going off on a rant about something. I don't want Jack down there like a spastic Beatles fan, but somewhere in between might be nice.

I think it's a job for a former player, they could at least add their own insight into how the team, a player, the lockerroom , or coach are doing at the time. I would much prefer that even if they weren't as broadcast savvy. That might actually make me hit the play button when I'm FF>>> to the first face off of the next period.

God dammit I don't like anything about this lockout, even thinking about when they were playing......

This is the key, I love the Bs and hockey but I must admit I wouldn't be too jazzed about being a puppet/robot and you gotta start somewhere. I'd actually prefer she do Dale's job and stick this new chick on the canned interview job (an initiation, until she's able to get to a position where you are able to say what you want, or well, to a degree, not saying Dale's job is open season but...he's really just directing the traffic, it's the Gord/Barry job(s) that actually voice the opinions on there) which I think Naoko would be good at being the facilitator of. Anyway, I like Naoko, maybe I just don't like those loud ones yelling in my face.

I suppose it could be worse, like a Vince McMahon interview and that I do not want. I love that hockey can have such an extreme juxtaposition. That men capable of such a constantly combative sport can be articulate and calm. It's really a hallmark of the league that doesn't' get enough recognition.

Naoko just doesn't seem quick enough on her feet for the studio though. Perhaps she is and has never been given the chance.

She has hockey in her bloodline...let's give her a chance.

In terms of Naoko....she very likely is only what is asked of her.

Thank god chelios isn't still in the league.. is his son in the league yet? Could be a possibly awesomely awkward interview.

Naoko drives me crazy. I can't watch her do live shots/interviews. She struggles with the smallest of questions. I feel too bad for her to watch. It's like watching an episode of Curb.

Her hosting ability is another story. She's perfectly acceptable when she does wraps for shows. Seems like a decent host, nothing that stands out.

I really hope Hextall replaces Naoko on interviews.

Add that to already having a bit o' crazy in her from being a woman and you could really have something!

Actually she kind of looks like a brunette KT to me. And I have no complaints with that.

Re: Naoko, she seems like a sweet person, even gave us a wave once when we shouted at her in San Jose. But her segments are pretty painful ... and no, it's not just the script.

I don't care whom replaces whom for the "in between" filler stuff, rarely have the volume on for much else other than the games, then I hit the B's official website for a bit of Bish

Hextall angle could make for some funny commercials.

Although Neely's hit on Hextall made Lucic and Miller look like a love tap.

Which it was, Looch could have plowed him so much harder if he had wanted, and another difference.....Hextall wouldn't have whined about a Looch-like tap
