Now I KNOW he's underrated.

He's all you can ask from a hockey player his size.

If he were still a Pen, this thread would be filled with harassments about him being injury prone.

Didn't he just have terrible luck with injuries? I recall hearing a weight machine fell on him or something, that's not injury prone, that's just one hell of a bad bit of luck. Straka's a good player...although he is in Injury City now. Best of luck to him. No more Umberger-for-Straka proposals. :p

Now that he's traded, everyone agrees he's not injury prone. Just unlucky.

Pittsburgh fans have been saying that for a while. Somehow, a weight machine collapsing on him was his fault. Somehow, his teammate smashing him the face with his stick was his fault. That's called bad luck.

It's good to hear Marty's doing well in LA, though. I knew he'd catch on somewhere.

It takes while, sometimes a long while before players can shake labels in the minds of some fans. Straka was one in a long line of players who had an erratic several few years after first coming into the league. He hit rock bottom in the late 90s, but has been money since. And anyone who has followed him since he re-joined Pittsburgh knows the guy is a superb talent. When I though NYI had $$$ (silly me :p ), I was dying for them to acquire him.

Good for LA.

The fact remains, weight machine or not, when you suffer a compressed vertebrae you're probably more likely to reinjure it during the grind of an NHL season.

Straka with another multi point game tonight, including the tying goal late in the 3rd to force OT.

Even though the Kings lost in OT, getting a point when your down 2-0 going into the 3rd period at Joe Louis is as good as a win in my book.

Straka has been a godsend

He had 4 goals in 22 games with the Pens
