I don't think Bryz is very good. If you think Leighton can equal him though, you've clearly forgotten how horrific Leighton is. He really isn't even an NHL backup anymore, Holmgren just somehow can't realize that.

I'm willing to give Bryz one more season. After that...****, I don't know what to do. He's currently untradeable.
If there is amnesty but outs the flyers have to buy him out, can't risk hoping he will turn it around because if he doesn't which I expect will be the case they are on the hook for 7 more years.

Agreed. Unfortunately I don't think there will be a buyout this time. I don't believe there's going to be a big enough difference in the cap to justify it.

Pronger will be bought out. It's not even a debate.

You cannot have a guy earning 5 million dollars eating up offseason and trade deadline cap.

It is a debate. One costs 5 million dollars in the offseason and at the trade deadline, the other costs 5 million all the time on a longer term deal. And for what, Bryz for the majority of his time here so far has been Leighton-esque, dare I say worse then Leighton. It only took us one season where oh by the way he took us to the Stanley cup Final for the first time since 97 for us to condemn him to being the worst goalie of all time, yet everyone is willing to forgive Bryz who costs 5 times more and is on the hook for the next decade. I'm not a Leighton supporter at all, we need to find a different solution, but if its between Pronger or Bryzaster, I'm eating Bryzs' contract and hoping Pronger comes back at some point.

If Pronger isn't cleared by the medical staff to play hockey, we can't buy him out

Assuming this season is done, how many years does Pronger have left on his contract? Bryz has 7. Pronger also may be on LTIR for the entire duration of the contract. This is by no means a slam dunk, they have to look at how much of a cap hit each player has, how much actual money needs to be paid out, how many more years each has left, the consequences of one or the other retiring early and the importance of each player in his position.

Cant see Snyder giving the ok to buy out Bryzgalov after this was the guy Snyder wanted and all they had to do to get the cap space to get him.

Bryz ought to be worrying about russian players being banished from the KHL...especially when he's been called out as being not in "optimal form" by team standards...

EBEL must not do video scouting... or maybe they were finally sent a tape of the Chicago series

Michael Leighton: Recently played in a charity game. There had been rumors of strong interest from an EBEL (Austrian team) about a month ago, but things have been quiet since.

Next CBA should have a provision/waiver for players who are mentally "disturbed" like Bryz...

YES! Do it NHL..I'll wait 10 years for hockey..well maybe not but seriously there should be a way for owners to institutionalize players who totally go AWOL...although GM's might have to be included since they are not immune to bouts of insanity...

Dan Cloutier?

I disagree about him not letting pride get in his way, I think that will also be a huge factor.
