Simmonds is a great complement to a guy like Giroux etc. We have no one like that (Giroux) and that's not to say Simmonds isn't a good player but he wouldn't be the same player he is for Philly if he is playing in Winnipeg just not the same situation. Simmonds is not a creator and we don't have the type of guys that are going to bring out in Simmonds what Philly gets from him offensively. Also I feel like he would be pretty redundant with Ladd (who is better), and the guys coming up (Klingberg, Lowry, Kosmo, etc.) The first is going to be late. That package in no way helps us at all we lose our best defenceman for a late first and a really nice complementary player who we can't bring the best out of with our top 6 and is redundant.

Much as I'd love Bogosian, I don't think there's any expendable pieces we have that could tempt the Jets. Maybe Schneider, but then they'd have to flip Pavelec. Ah well. He'll likely be a Jet for years to come anyways.

Bogosian is a 22 year old top pairing defenseman who still has a lot of room to grow. He's a player that the Jets are building around and is a core piece. Yes, they have Trouba now but that's not a reason to sell short on Bogosian.

Simmonds is a 2nd liner. I love him as a Flyer, I do, but I don't think he's going to get any better than he was last year. I think he is what he is now. He holds more worth to the Flyers than to other teams. He's a good complimentary player, but not a player you build around and not a core piece.

The 1st is most likely a late first.

How does this help the Jets? They trade a young top pairing d-man and core piece for a nice complimentary player and a late first? Yup, seems like it makes a lot of sense.
