KHL seems not to have any video of CSKA vs amur, but i found this, which lacks sound:

1st 2 goals are by datsyuk and marchenko. amur played bad D on both.

Article's about Lundqvist but shines some light on the situation for guys like Franzen, Ericsson and Kronwall too. I figure that's why Ericsson is going back to Detroit for at least a month. Basically, you have to spend more time abroad than in Sweden during a 365 day span, i.e. 183+ days or you run the risk of getting huge taxes. We're talking like upwards 60% instead of 15%. Time spent in Sweden during the summer etc. is included in that quota. So in case of a full lockout and signing a contract now, there'd be a risk of having to leave the team before the playoffs are done. The World Champs are also in Sweden in the spring and ends mid May.

Finland has this same rule and that's why guys like Antti Niemi and Jussi Jokinen have gone back to America after playing here for a while. What suprises me is that Filppula is supposed to stay here even though he was in Finland during the summer and played in the WC which was held in Finland as well. They must have it fixed in a way that he doesn't spend the 6 months here because it simply doesn't make sense to pay so much extra taxes.

Most of the countries have similar rule. Maybe Filppula doesn't care about such things. He gets to play at home. Way better than scratching... in the US. If he cared so much about the money he would be playing in Russia.

I am sorry but lets not pretend that is something that can only happen in the KHL. We have seen him do this several times. He did the same kind of thing to the Sharks a couple season ago a team that would bounce us from the playoffs.

The Swedes playing in Sweden aren't drawing a salary(not one worth the name anyway), only getting their insurance paid. But outside of income tax they also run the risk of qualifying for taxes on savings and shares, which is a bigger deal. Not everyone cares about this but if you've waited this long you might aswell wait another month I guess.

Since Filppula has an American girlfriend, could be he spends more time in the summer in the US? Or since his NHL salary isn't that big, he doesn't mind paying taxes for it?

Didn't know where to put this put watched Kindl play in EHT against Finland yesterday. Czech won 1-0, goal by Petr Nedved. Old man still as it.

Kindl made some not-so-good decisions with the puck, had a good stick, was solid defensively got pretty big minutes, played a lot on the pk, got better as the game went on.

Didn't get much done offensively.

Valtteri Filppula got injured today. SM-liiga continued today after a week's Euro Hockey tour pause. His skate got stuck to the side of the rink and he blew his knee in the second period. They've going to have an MRI tomorrow latest. Hope it's not serious.

His stats today.

NOV 13, 2012: ÄSSÄT @ JOKERIT 5 - 2
G 0, A 0, P 0, +/- +0, S 3, TOI 15:09.

Val after 16 games: G 6, A 9, P 15, +/- +7, S 40, PIM 6, average TOI 24:19.

Hank with a goal and an assist while Brunner had 4 apples. Both were +2.

Wow sounds pretty serious from the way you describe it.

Nah. He declared a long time ago he will never play on big ice again. "Too far to the net from the corners"

Same thought, usually the rut in the ice stuff does pretty bad damage when it happens. Isn't this how Kronwall missed a ton of time?

I think he is coaching his kids team the last I heard about him. Homer doesn't sound all that interested in going back to Sweden even if he is retired except for on vacations. He sounds like he is going to stay in the area and his kids will continue in school around Detroit.

Filppula actually hurt his leg twice in that game and I think it was the same knee. First time he limped off the ice but was back on the next shift but 2nd time went straight to the locker room. I'm quite sure he'll miss at least the next game on Thursday since they don't want to take any chances.

From the highlight reel (when they appear on Youtube I'll post it here) it seems that he collided with an Ässät defender and hit his knee against the dman. That was the second time he hurt his leg as ChadS stated above.

Highlights from yesterday's Jokerit game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbvr044KuX0

Unfortunately there's no video on Filppula's injury.

I don't know if you can see these videos outside Finland, but in this video the injury is @ 1:54

There's no official info out so I have no idea where they got that from. In Finland teams don't tend to say much about the injuries, usually just upper/lower body injury.

And that link also says he's got MCL injury.

So we have basically three legit top6ers if NHL starts now/soon.
