Blake Geoffrion badly injured - fractured skull 2012-11-09

Lapresse article

Hope he recovers well... Huge clean hit, hit by the blade of JP Cote's skate on the helmet which shattered. That's what caused the injury.

Forgive me if already posted.

Also, someone fix that Youtube link.

Thanks,

“@MAGodin: Blake Geoffrion, inquiet, à son père: « L’histoire de notre famille au hockey a commencé à Montréal. Est-ce que ça va finir ici aussi? »”
Blake Geoffrion, worried, to his father "Our family's history started in Montreal. Will it end here too?"

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=645482 Article about Blake Geoffrion's condition. His father, Danny spoke to reporters in Tennesse concerning his son's accident and his health. Geoffrion is out 8-10 months or longer according to his father.

His health is more important than hockey right now and let's hope he gets to play the game he loves again soon.

this was in the media all weekend, wondering why it took so long to be rebroadcast here. Must be the lockout slow season.

He's been moved out of the ICU now. Looking better and better each day.

Pretty amazing though how everyone on Twitter - fans and hockey players of all 30 organizations - all wished Geoffrion a speedy recovery and kept him in their prayers. It really goes to show you that emotions are left on the ice and once the game is done, they sincerely care for each other's life and well-being.

I hope he has a good recovery and eventually bounces back to a good career as an effective bottom-6 player.

I thought what caused the injury was the impact of his head on the ice.

Heh

I was actually quite surprised it wasn't already on this site. I saw the article on Lapresse and went right on HFBoards to read more, and there was nothing, I was kind of shocked since I'm more of a casual internet user.

I thought it was the impact of his head on Cote's blade. (?)

Someone posted it the night it happened but the mods moved it to the Hamilton thread for some reason.

I don't like the hit, I never have. Borderline clipping, someone is going to get killed one day, can't believe nobody has yet.

No Blake, have a kid and make sure he reach the NHL

That said, I hope he recovers. What a scary injury.

Injuries to habs players and prospects never end.

Pacioretty
Leblanc
Bourque
Geoffrion
Markov
Pateryn
Thrower

Am I missing anyone else? The team is never meant to be healthy.

In life but his dad made it sound his hockey career might be over. Heck he even mentioned he was happy his son had his degree to fall back on.

To be fair, the primary concern should be life. After that, if he can play hockey, great, if not, he's got his whole life to live! Also, as you pointed out, his degree in hand isn't a bad piece either.

That's the right thing for his dad to say.

Wishing him well and a full recovery.
