Such a damn shame Lindros suffered multible concussions which cut his career short....in his prime years in Philly there was never a player so dominate offensively and physically.
865 pts in 760 games is still mighty impressive and I would like to see get inducted.

I'm still stunned how long it took for Howe to get in. Bourque and Coffey were the only better defensemen than him during the 80s.

Amonte was 20th in points during his career, and 16th in goals. But he wa only once top ten in points and twice top ten in goals. His career is like a shorter version of Dave Andreychuk's. Not a HHOF career.

Or to be more direct:

Zubov scored about 80 more points in about 110 fewer games:
771 in 1068 for Zubov
691 in 1179 for Niedermayer

Zubov was more reliably a solid defensive player.

What Zubov wasn't that Niedermayer was? A Canadian kid who has a high-profile image of winning. That alone won him a Norris in 2004; Lidstrom drooped offensively, so the writers decided that someone else must be the best defenseman and Niedermayer was the anointed choice - much like Chara in 2009.
I agree with that. I never got how Niedermayer is the clear case that many think he is.

1 Norris Trophy
1 Conn Smythe
2 Olympic Gold medals
4 Stanley Cups
4 All star team selections (3 times on the first All star team).

Zubov had success with one olympic gold medal and two stanley cups, but not the success Niedermayer had. There's not another player that has won as much as he did.

Yeah, Niedermayer is an easy HOF case. It's the people who take it to the next step and say he's a top-10 or even top-5 defenseman of all time who are out to lunch.
