Rogers said they want to make Toronto teams winners again.. If the Maple Leafs sign Getzlaf/Perry or any of the big free agents we can truly be excited. Hopefully they don't cheap out on TFC, cause that team is pretty embarrassing

Leafs are also in the right direction, people just have to be patient. That's all really.

You can't even compare the additions the two teams made.

We added 2 all stars and a very good #3 pitcher, while losing nothing off the roster. (Reyes > Yunel).

Plus, we have Jose (best hitter in baseball), Lawrie, and EE, Morrow, and a very good bullpen. This team is now full of legit talent everywhere.

No one said the raptors were gonna be contenders. People thought they would make one of the last two playoff spots with a healthy lineup. Our best player Lowry has been out for a while too.

Not comparable scenarios

As a guy who knows almost nothing almost baseball players not on the Jays, how bad did we rob the Marlins

Try and make an NHL comparable, that might help

I went to a couple of TFC games this year. Nice weather, good looking girls, crappy team.

Let's see... foligno, anderson, silverfburg, matt puempel and mark stone for toews, loungo, kessel, okposo and matt martin? so basically scrap and cap space for stars lol. Blue jays finally have an ace man since doc left...good lord. so good

We got:
- a legit ace (kinda comparable to really good goalie, just out of elite range)
- one of the best SS in the game (with injury issues though)
- a very good #3 pitcher (comparable to a good 2nd line playe)

for

- a good young SS with major character issues (Heatley, but half as good)
- a good young pitcher with #2 pitcher upside
- a blue chip pitching prospect
- a good out field prospect

That's the main aspects of the trade. So we got 2 all stars in their late 20's, and a good player for 2 good young players and a blue chipper.

Pretty damn cheap compared to what we got back.

I tried but couldn't think of one.. It's this though.

To Toronto:
Jose Reyes - 4 time all star, bad year (like everyone last year in Miami), sick SS, upgrade over Escobar.

Josh Johnson - top 10 pitcher in the league when he's healthy, had injury trouble last year. Was the Marlins' ace until they got Buehrle.

Mark Buehlre - ace for the Marlins, you probably know him as "the guy who had the perfect game".

John Buck - Former Blue Jay catcher, in his one season with the Jays he made the all star team.

Emilio Bonifacio - good utility player, nothing special.

To Miami:
Henderson Alvarez - young, promising starting pitcher, looked good but was pretty inconsistent imo.

Yunel Escobar - We all knew he was going, **** him. I lost all respect for him.

Adeiny Hechavarria - decent - to good prospect.

Justin Nicolino - pitcher prospect, don't think he'll be good imo.. Don't see a lot in him.

Jake Marisnick - I really like him, has a really good chance of being a regular. Most versatile prospect we had, will be decent - good as well.

Jeff Mathis - Character backup catcher, we got John Buck back so there's no need for him at all.

It's like getting Getzlaf, Perry, and Selanne and a couple of 3rd liners for like Grabovski, Gunnarsson, Gigeure, Kadri, Frattin and Blacker. And Selanne is like 9 years younger too.

Every year we say Blue Jays have improved and every year they aren't too close to making the playoffs (except 2010 I think, and even then, not really). Given the teams in the AL East, I can't see the Blue Jaays making the playoffs unless something drastically changes. When's the last time we came better then 2nd last in our division?

This year is different because the Jays have never added this kind of talent at once in the past 5+ years. Adding that to what they already have (a talented young team), there is legit reason for people to get excited.

The competition to get to the PO will still be really tight, but this team, on paper, made some MAJOR upgrades in several areas of weakness.
