The Blue Jays-Marlins trade is done... This is going to be one of the all-timers, with Reyes, Johnson, Bonifacio, Buck, Buehrle...holy crow.

Can any of them stay healthy for 162? Tons of potential for sure.

Some of the names reported going to the Marlins:
1) Yunel Escobar
2) Adeiny Hecchavaria
3) Jake Marisnick or Anthony Gose
4) Justin Nicolino
5) Henderson Alvarez
6) One of the 3 catchers the Jays have: JP Arencibia, Bobby Wilson, or Jeff Mathis

Now if A-Rod goes to Miami somehow that be funny.

Even in rebuilding, Stanton should be on the sox radar.

Sox need to step it up. The Jays just robbed the Marlins. Straight up robbery.

We might be the worst in the AL East. C'mon Ben.

I think that is AA's thinking here....he seen an opening and took it. Sox probably aren't contending next year, Yanks getting older, Baltimore will most likely regress, and TB may be looking to move Shields/Price. This is their chance.

Stanton put on his twitter "Alright, I'm pissed off. Plain and simple." How long before he asks for a trade?

Gotta feel bad for the city of Miami...got roped into a publicly funded ballpark and now this will probably destroy baseball in that city. Will they even average 10K next year??

One downside for Toronto in this is that Miami really backloaded the contracts....Buehrle only made 6 million last year and is due to make 11/18/19 million over next three years...Reyes made 10 million and is due 10/10/16/22/22/22/22 over the next 7 years (until he is 35)...so the deal looks really good now but in a few years it might really hamstring them. I assume Miami did that on purpose with the thinking that they would eventually deal them at some point.

If the trade leads to success on the field it shouldn't be a problem. We have a very rich owner who will be willing to pay if they are getting a return on their investment.

If the players struggle and the team under performs it could be a big problem.

Don't the Marlins usually wait until they win it all before blowing it up?

From a competition standpoint, it makes 100% sense. The two fatcats in the division are limping right now. From a business standpoint, it couldnt be more perfect. The NHL is out of order, and the Blue Jays have a rare chance to grab the city

Even if the NHL comes back the hockey team is terrible as is the Basketball team. They don't have a NFL team and the CFL isn't as popular in in Toronto as it is in the rest of Canada.

A successful baseball team would do very well in Toronto and has before.

Not that I know of, as a matter of fact, tonights trade was made possible in part by him fleecing the Angels to take Vernon Wells contract
