I keep trying to convince myself that Chan's turned some sort of corner. He's actually called a couple good games this year. But then he'll inevitably throw up some horrible stinker like the Houston game where we run the ball what, like, 10 times? It's mind boggling at times

Despite our record under Nix, I think he's done a reasonable job assembling talent. We have some good individual players on both sides of the ball.

If the team finishes out strong, I'm OK with Gailey/Nix for at least one more year. If we can acquire a good LB during the off season, and get a good defensive coordinator, plus draft a QB, I'll be happy with the direction the franchise is moving in.

The new way of hiring coaches?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...ce=twitterfeed

Oh wait, the Bills did that, DISASTER. Though to be fair Chan did nothing at GT to warrant such a hire. His team was never in the Top 25 for starters.

U MAD TASHARD CHOICE?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...-his-for-taunt

My favorite part of the article:

Quote:
Spikes wasn't penalized on the play, but the showboating led Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to call the linebacker a "punk."

You know you've upset a Harvard man when he's throwing around that type of language.

Maybe Choice should hang up his pads and become the next coach. Hes showing some emotion! Gailey probably doesn't even know what happened.

I don't know why I'm still as excited about the rest of the season as I am. By rights I should be down in the dumps

I don't think they'll run the table but I have delusions of salvaging 9-7 and sneaking into a wildcard spot. Might not even need too much help if that last loss came against the NFC. This Kool Aid is delicious and no one can tell me otherwise.

On the other hand, a loss against Miami tomorrow would murder my enthusiasm entirely.

We're really questioning if there's a better option than Chain Gailey? Really?

You need to finish that sentence.

We're questioning if there's a better option than Chan Gailey THAT IS WILLING TO COME TO BUFFALO.

That's the million dollar issue, IMO.

Sure, there are better coaches than Gailey out there. But how many of them would want to come to Buffalo?

Assistant coaches looking for their shot might. Not necessarily the top-notch ones who are on everyone's radar, but guys who may not have that kind of notoriety...

In hilarious local (for me) news, the pot calls the kettle black

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...s-hes-terrible

Seriously though, I'll take the years and years of misery being a Bills fan over ever having to put up with the Jets (not to mention their fans)

Ralph Wilson stands in the way of that more than anything. Give an experienced guy the money and freedom he wants and they'd come here, but Ralph won't do that. He still think he actually knows something about football.

Even with that being said, as was mentioned there will be some younger coordinators looking for their shot that could be had. Ralph still stands in the way of any actual progress, though.

Completely, 100% agreed that Ralphie is the major problem.

And I can't see a young super-under-the-radar coordinator wanting a job here.

It'd be far more likely that another retread coach would take a chance. I'm thinking a guy like Todd Haley or Tom Cable or Mike Tice or someone along those lines.

And are they necessarily better than the Chan? Who knows.

Possible. You win the Indy game after 10 days off I think it's more realistic than you'd think. Circa 2004. Except this time they don't have Andrea Bledsoe to blow it the last week against a teams THIRD STRING.

Could the Steelers be coming back to the pack now after this?

http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/...injury-662035/

I thought they wrre a lock. But say his year is done. They play BAL twice and go to Dallas. Thats 3 losses right there.

Don't be so sure about Dallas. They are jekyll and hyde this year.

You're right, when they're ON they can beat any team in the league but I honestly think KC would beat the cowboys if they caught them on a bad day.

Another one is Josh McDaniels, remember Bill Belichick was a disaster in Cleveland, went back under a solid HC (Parcells) and emerged much better. I could see a similar thing with McDaniels. But I think a strong OC/DC would realize they have a cushy job, why risk an HC job with a bottom feeder.

I'd rather have low expectations and finish with 5-7 wins than high expectations and finish with 5-7 wins. Rex did back Tebow up but interesting how this sort of thing happens on his team. Rex creates a loudmouth culture where class takes a back seat to acting obnoxious (ie his assistant tripping a player last year). I HATE Bill Belichick but you wont see a Patriot player calling out a teammate in the media, they'd be out the door in a heartbeat.
