He didn't crumble last year - that would imply he pitched, but performed poorly. He went down to injury back in the doing as was out for the season. He's an unknown as far as the Jays are concerned - they brought him in to be a closer, so he'll get a chance to establish his conditioning and show what he can do in late relief.

I agree Janssen has earned the right to close with his strong performance last season, but we shouldn't discount Santos until we see what he can bring to the table. Almost every team needs more than one guy capable of closing anyway, so it's hardly a bad thing.

Regarding LF, who knows. They have some options internally (Sierra, Gose, Davis, Bonifacio now) though none of them are ideal or particularly sexy. Or they could go out and try and grab something off the FA pile.

But chances are we don't see any "big" free agent moves. They just up and skyrocketed the team's payroll in one fell swoop, I can't exactly see that being conducive to throwing boatloads more cash at someone through free agency. Better to take the budget the team has left and plug as many of the smaller holes as possible than acquire 1 more big piece and have to struggle along with replacement-level pieces to fill the other voids.

Probably not done. As the roster presently stands, there are several individuals who could play in LF. Gose, Davis, Bonifacio, Sierra could all play there. Chances are another person, probably a left handed bat, will be brought in at that position. It's still very early in the winter, so one would assume there's a lot more changes coming.

They really don't NEED to. Would it be nice? Sure. Every team no matter how good they are, has holes somewhere. The fact is, 2b and LF are really the only areas that need improvement. Which is shocking just saying it. Trotting out Davis, Sierra, or Bonafacio isn't the end of the world.

Knowing AA, he's always got something in the works. I don't see any major moves coming. More along the lines of little tweaks. Maybe a bench bat, or flexible starter/reliever as insurance.

They just took on a whole truckload of money, I highly doubt there are any more major league FA signings unless one of these high priced players are moved out. (Which is doubtful from my perspective)

The way I see it now is the time to sign UFA's you have a good team and now they will want to play for you, before that might not have been the case.

Oh please be true.

Like I said earlier, you can't hit .340 just based on steroids

Coming to Toronto would be perfect for him, get out of the spotlight.

Either way that's a really strong BP. If our rotation does it's job like we expect after this trade..going 7 strong innings, we can mix and match with the best of them. Most of those guys are fireballers as well so when you add everything up, this team is shaping up beautifully all around, with a couple of tweaks here and there.

Once the season starts though, I still don't think the Jays get much attention in the US.

Encarnacion(1B/DH)
Rasmus(CF)

I dono why you guys hate on bay so much, he would be a perfect fit in toronto, and could storm back from his few bad years.

Especially in canada.

Because he had 4 good years in his career, and they were a long long time ago.

He's been putrid these last few years.
