Hemsky has his value gone up?

Hemsky is playing in the Czech Republic League he has played 16 games with 11 goals and 10 assist for 21 points. He is finally healthy after he had his surgery. He is a legit top 6 winger on any team.

To a team that is looking for a top 6 winger with skill what would you offer for him?

He could be put in a package deal for a big block buster but obviously the FAB 5 are not moving but other prospects and Gagner could be added.

Until he gets back to the NHL, gets hit once and breaks in half.

Hemsky has played a loooooong time in the NHL -- pretty sure teams know what they are getting -- and a month iin Europe won't change that.

Hemsky has always had a nice shot. It's too bad he doesn't use it in the NHL.

I'd say his value is still the same. 2nd liner who has the skill of a top line winger but who's value is brought down due to injury concerns.

Plekanec has 28 pts in 18 games and Jagr 27 pts in 17 games.

So the 21 pts in 16 games isnt that good in this league.

Was going to post something similar, not exactly playing against top calibre opponents.

The bigger ice surface, the less physical playing style, fewer games and in general less skilled competition make it difficult to make a direct correlation between Hemsky's 1 month in Europe and how he will fair in the NHL. I do agree that a healthy Hemsky is a top 6 winger on any team in the NHL, but a healthy DiPietro is a good NHL goalie on any team or a healthy Marc Savard is a top 6 C on any team. Unless Hemsky can stay healthy and produce at the level he has in the past in the NHL he will not garner the return that he would otherwise.

Why are Euro-League stats at all relevant? Hemsky could put up 50 points in 17 games...he's still playing in a league that is NOT the NHL.

But to the OP, Hemsky has the same value as he did the past two years IMO. A top 6 winger who has bad injury issues. Teams wont give up much to get him simply because of the (very high) injury risk

Yeah, showing that he performs better on a non-NHL sized ice against inferior players will do little to raise his value.

His value has increased only because he has shown he can play more then 10 games without his shoulder self imploding

If he can show that pace in the NHL without injuring himself then yes.

Czech league? Meh... He needs to prove himself in the physical NHL. Otherwise his value remains the same as it has the past few seasons.

Do you really think that is going to all of a sudden make teams forget about Hemsky's injury history of the last few years? 16 games, maybe that means he is due to get injured any day now just joking

If Lupul is traded for Luongo, I'd love to have Hemsky on the other side of Kessel.
What are the Oilers needs?

Holzer/Blacker + 2nd
For
Hemsky + 5th/6th

?

Still made of glass. Until he proves he can put up points AND stay healthy his value will always be low.

For all those guys saying that Hemsky has no value you don't know anything about hockey; he is a legit top 6 winger and has played 21 straight games. He would help any team in the top 6 position. A team like NAS, PHX, NYI, and TO just to name a few would improve their team.

See, Billy Idol gets it. I don't know why he doesn't get it.

A playmaking winger with top-6 talent whose shoulder troubles are behind him has no value? His value isn't high but to say he has no value is laughable. Put down the pipe.

Let's not forget the lazy play too. He's probably loving floating around the big ice snapping off wristers.

I agree, his value is low, real low....but not zero. The constant injuries just make it too hard to get even close to fair value for him. The Oil should keep him.

Unless he has a robotic shoulder I don't think you can make this claim.

Heh, interesting. I think either Hemsky or Lupul would make a good centrepiece for a Luongo trade.

That said, middling D prospects and 2nd rounders aren't exactly an area of weakness for the Oilers.
