The only real worry I'd have if I'm a Jays fan is Buehrle in the AL East. I can't recall him having much success against the BoSox and Yanks (especially getting lit up by the latter). On an artificial surface on top of that is a bit scary.
Are the Jays the only team left that still uses an artificial field?
That's what I was thinking as well but I swear I've read before that Arencibia doesn't have the bat for DH... can anyone confirm? I don't know anything about sabremetrics or I'd check myself
He doesn't.

JPA barely has a bat for catcher.......I don't think I could handle him being our DH for a full season......Though Lind is probably worse.

Good HR power for a catcher, lacklustre in pretty much every other capacity when it comes to hitting...

Interesting read. Doesn't seem very closed off to the idea of signing an extension like some people seem to think. I personally don't see AA trading him but if he flat out won't sign then it would make the most sense.
I still think he can at be +20HR and around .270 guy.
Lind or JPA? I don't see JP ever hitting above 250. I think if Lind could get out of this idea that he has to pull everything he could become respectable again. That was what was so great in his 08 season he mashed opo taco all year.....now not so much.

Lind, I always thought Lind would do well in the big leagues. He did pretty well after his stint in the minors last year if I remember correctly.
Ah, forgot about the Trop. But at least they use full infield dirt. What stops Rogers Centre from using that?
I don't know this for sure but only thing I can think of is the Argo's playing in there aswell. I read that they were thinking about kicking the CFL out and putting grass in......Honestly after putting this much money into the team that would be a great investment for Rogers in the 2013 off season

Hear it's $8M going from miami to toronto in big trade, not $4M (like that really matters)
lol
Well, four million dollars is like 40% of their 2013 payroll, so in that sense it is a big deal. Not as much if you compare it to the amount of money Loria has made destroying baseball in two of the 15 largest markets in North America.

What do the Blue Jays look like post trade lineup wise?

Think how well Bautista will hit now with a legit lead off man in Reyes.
Reyes is an ok leadoff man. Certainly better than anyone we've had in a while but his OBP isn't exactly ideal. He wreaks havoc on the base paths though so that is definitely a plus. Having him and Rajai back to back could cause other teams some real problems.
Well, I've had almost a full day to calm down & process this, and I have to admit I think Olney & even our own illustrious Martini have some valid points. This team sucked last year with the big payroll. It won 5 more games than did the 1993 expansion Marlins. The farm system was all but bare. Blowing the whole thing up may be the only shot at building the franchise back to respectabilty.
That said, from a business standpoint this remains a disaster. They have alianated practically the entire fanbase & even worse, they seem to have alianated Giancarlo Stanton. They lose him, its done. He's the only one fans care about right now. We were promised that once Marlins Park opened, something like this would not ever happen again. And here it is, only 7 months later & they have gutted the team. Fans are not going to forgive this & do not have the patience for rebuild #3456. Marlins Park willbe empty next season.......I will be shocked if they draw much more than a million fans total.
