Trade Period Opens.....? Who's buying, who's selling?
I'm hoping the NHL lockout lasts until the deadline so that the Seadogs can get something for Huberdeau, but who else do we expect to be moving round the league, & where?
I really have no Idea what the Rocket will do if they keep playing strong I think they will add but 1 thing is looking like Lagace will be traded. If we sell I could see Duffy goin to the Armada but who knows what Serge is thinking

Guaranteed buyers:
Halifax (anything really. Any position or role would work with the way we role 3 powerful lines.. Tesink? Top 4 D is also a need)
Quebec (depends on lockout. If Grigs goes, then Danault becomes a serious need)
Blainville (great depth, defense and goaltending. A player like Huberdeau would make them unreal as they don't have a lot of big name offensive players)

Both these teams have had great starts, and with the lack of true contenders after the big 3, it could be these two fighting with BLB and Quebec down the stretch... They have pieces and picks to trade now if they please...
Moncton - No team goes out and drafts a previous drafted euro in Jaskin to just be midpack... The trade for Narbonne supports this... Flynn is sold on contending, but the team needs to improve to make it worth-while.

These two have good records, but they should focus more on the future... You could argue that you should make the most of Duffy and Currie while they are still here, but are you going to mortgage the future to contend? Rimouski's strong group of 95's lead me to believe Trainor or Oke could be moved at Christmas...
Victo - They have Danault who could really kick start a rebuild in a trade. They also have a winning record, and i'm not sure what the GM will do...
Val-d'Or - Still think they could be a surprise buyer and get Huberdeau.

Teams where selling would make more sense
Bathurst - There's been a lot of hype around them, but it's not warranted, this season... They have a decent young team and things aren't clicking right now... Hynes has reportedly asked for a trade as LGM has taken his "C" away... The coaching is a mess, and the defense corps is not good and will burn too many assets to fix.
Gatineau - A lot of people were pegging them as a top team in pre-season, but injuries and a young core in general will push this team back towards next year and beyond... This team doesn't score much... They'll need more firepower upfront in the future...
Then there's teams like Drummonville, Chicoutimi, Cape Breton who won't do anything drastic, but will clearly be sellers. Sherbrooke and Shawi don't have much to give anyways...
Saint John will of course be selling, but they better hope for a year long lock-out.
I think the PEI Rocket should be selling. They are a step behind Halifax, the Armada, Remparts, etc and need to beat those teams if wanting to make a serious run in the playoffs. The Rocket could always buy if wanting to make moves to compete with those teams but those teams are also likely going to ramp up at the trading period and if the Rocket were to buy, not sure if they would be able to move players and still be able to compete this season.
The one thing they can't do is stay pat. They have an opportunity to build well for the future and they should be doing it because as mentiond before they are a step behind the Halifax's, the Armada's and would be even further behind if the Rocket stood pat and those teams add. A few years ago the Sea Dogs were in a similar situation where they had a good team but weren't quite one of the top teams so they traded guys like Didmenico and Grant. For some people it was an unpopular move but we all saw the rewards they reaped the last 2 seasons from making those kinds of moves

I don't really know what you mean.. The Remparts won the Memorial Cup in 2006. In 2007 he didn't make many moves but acquired 19-year old dman Bezeau. In 2008 and 2009 they had a young core and wanted to develope from within. In 2010 they took a step back and traded Tessier ,Groulx, Gilbert,Hinse,Corriveau,St.Germain,Delmas and Tardif in which they're still benefiting from. Last season they went out and got 2 key players for their run in Gabriel Desjardins , Logan Shaw. Quebec is a big market team will lots of resources, they have had luck drafting and landing players which makes them fairly competitive every year. Some years it makes sense to add or subtract and other seasons it makes more sense to stay still.
The Cape Breton/Rimouski trade was made official today and is now in the Q site. Jakub Culek to CB in exchange for a 4th and 9th round picks. Darveau is the likely player out of a spot and Rimouski does well for a player not even with the team. Win, win , hopefully he can bring the same as Straka in Baie Comeau.
Sawyer Hannah wants another opportunity to play in this league so Halifax has him on the market. I could see him going to Saint John (Gagne,Durepos,McAuley) or Sherbrooke(Comtois,McNamee,Richer) after some off those 20's are sold at Christmas.
