Same here. I think that's the best comparison out there.

That's some really high praise.

I think that he could become the better player if he reaches his absolute ceiling, but Kane has averaged 74pts/season and has been a 1st all star and hes 23.

He will have to exceed my expectations to be better than Kane.

I'd say he'll end up being almost Kane caliber. I wouldn't say better though.

The hype is all warranted from we've seen so far.

Tanguay wasn`t as smooth a skater...but they are similar in that they both had great vision while also being able to snipe a goal if given room.

Drouin is like a slicker Tanguay IMO. Tanguay was a bit more raw with a herky jerky (sp? lol) skating style overall. At 17, Tanguay also wasn`t as impact as Drouin who could most likely lead the league in scoring.

Drouin has tons of skill his durability and lack of size might be a bit concerning.

Quote:
Said one scout of Drouin: “Can not say enough good things about this player... with added size and grit he would challenge Nathan for Number One overall.”

That made me laugh. If Drouin were able to actually skate i could see that happen in best case scenario.

As much as I like Drouin, and I would like to have him with the habs, comparing or saying he'll surpass Kane is laughable. Comparing prospect to proven NHLers is what I dislike the most on this forum. First of all, Kane is much faster and agile on his skates than Drouin. Secondly, Kane is 23 and already had a 80 pts+ season. Now please look at how many players get 80 pts the last few years, not a lot. The fact is that too many people live in the past to accept that the NHL has changed, and a good season from elite players will get them 70-80 pts, with the exception of superstars. Not to mention that Kane was clutch as **** during the 2 years they went deep in the playoffs. Kane is a tremendous player and Drouin will need to prove himself in the NHL first to even say he'll be better than an actual elite player that is still so young. The potential is there, but only few players live up to the expectations and get 80+ pts seasons.

This is a little late.... but I saw him play a few weeks back in drummond and he is amazing. His speed is what makes him such a good player. He has a crazy good shot as well, really excited to see what he can do over the entire season.... I am not sold on him yet thought because he is a little bit small....

The reason people are comparing him to Kane is because of his stick handling, I agree with you thought, he is getting a little to much hype. But the potential and talent are there, I just think that he is a top 10 pick, not a top 5 or top 3 like some people make him out to be. In other drafts sure, not this draft.

Is it possible if they both maintain that ppg for most of the season that Drouin could go before MacKinnon in the draft? i mean i get how dynamic McKinnon is but over 68 game thats 141pts for Drouin and 109pts for McKinnon, is he so much better that scout would forget about such a ppg difference and still pick McKinnon first?

Btw im not saying both will keep their respective PPG, Drouin could go down and McKinnon up but im still curious about what would happen if it stayed like that.
I doubt that he goes before Mackinnon because Mackinnon is such a complete player. He does everything well, he plays a lot bigger than Drouin. Drouin seems to uni-dimensional to me to go over mackinnon or even barkov for that matter.

Drouin can skate FYI, he's better than most of the 2013 draft class. That was hilarious.

Watching the game on Eastlink, just over a minute in and Drouin already has an assist as the Moose lead 1-0, goal on the PP.

EDIT: The goal was scored by Fournier, from Drouin & Frk.

Make that 2 assists for Drouin tonight.. Not even 5 minutes in and the Moose have 2 PP goals.

Goal 2 - Fournier from MacKinnon and Drouin.
