I'd put Lawrie in the 2nd spot. That's just me though.

Exactly.. But I'm not suprised to see the White Sox fan with only negative input concerning the former White Sox pitcher.

Jays top needs were:
1 or 2 top of the rotation starters - check
lead off hitter - check
speed - check(x2)
get rid of Escobar - check

I couldn't have imagined a better deal for the Jays.

I prefer Bonafacio...he put up an OBP of .360 two years ago and almost averaged half a stolen base a game last year...

Who are the Yankees?

Most road games were played in a park where the Yankees no longer play.

And he played against players who no longer play for the Yankess or have declined significantly.

Against what Yankees though?

Only 4 current Yankees have more then 20 at bats against Buehrle?

Jays lose this deal because Johnson will walk at free agency. Unless someone ponies up for a rental ace pitcher at the deadline, which is quite likely.

From a pure baseball standpoint, the Jays have a bit of a lead on this deal. If JJ walks, the value the Jays got decreases greatly

Is it general consensus that Reyes' value was negative due to his contract?

Just like Bautista did? Everyone said the Jays wouldn't pay Bautista, until they did?

Everyone thinks the Jays don't have money, but they're owned by a multi-billion dollar media company whose given evidence in this trade that they'll pay for talent.

If JJ has a good year, rest assured, the Jays can match any offer given.

I really don't see how any reasonable baseball fan could say the Jays lose this deal?

His next 3-4 good years will be worth it.

It could be, yes. But right now it isn't.

Nobody knows what the next few years will bring. If he tails off or gets injured, it could certainly become a bad contract.

For the time being, the Jays just acquired a premier switch hitting shortstop with a career .291 average who can steal 40 bases at bat leadoff. Thats a huge plus considering the team needs.

The Jays gave up none of their "top" prospects, a shortstop who was essentially run out of town in September, and Henderson Alvarez.

I'd trade Alvarez for Buehrle straight up easily.

I'd trade Escobar for a year of Johnson pretty easily given his reputation.

So we gave up a few prospects for Jose Reyes. This is where I'm slightly confused because I'm not entirely sure of his value, because I'm not sure of Rogers' spending limits.

But until we hear Anthopoulos say he's out of money or Reyes entirely busts, there is no possible way the Jays lose this trade.

I was going to say Bonifacio also.

I like him in one of the top two spots over late in the order. Plus, I think it extends the Jays lineup a little having Rasmus bat around 7th.

I didn't even know Bonafacio was in the deal.

But yeah, with that said, I'd put him in the 2-spot.

It's worth pointing out that the New Yankee Stadium has the same dimensions as the old one, and that -- despite their monumental postseason struggles -- the Yankees had the best lineup in baseball last year (with the possible exception of Texas.)

That said, if Buehrle flops in Toronto it will have way more to do with the artificial turf than it does with the Bombers.

Wakamatsu? No thanks, Jeff.

My Mariners-centric friends also strongly share this sentiment.

I still think they're secretly targeting Guillen.

I don't understand how the Marlins managed to give away not only all of their talent, but money as well. WTF.

I forgot they almost got Pujols.

Good on him realizing the impending train wreck. I believe he rejected more money from Miami.
