You'd compare the two players pre-NHL, because that's where you have the best sample size to make such a comparison. Sure, it all goes out the window when they both start getting NHL experience(real NHL experience, not 5 games worth), but until then you compare them the only way you really can.

As I said before, yes it's an indicator, but that's all it is. The bolded is my point, until they both get to the NHL you can't correctly evaluate them.

From what little I've seen of Bartshi, I've been impressed. This is from an Oilers fan. Havent seen the other guy so I didnt vote.

I look forward to hating Bartshi in the BOA for years to come.

Bump.

So, we can say that we Granlund-supporters were right. Granlund is better now and in the future. Baertschi looks like fringe NHLer while Granlund is a star in the making.

Yes because it's not like at 21 years old that Baertschi will ever improve.

How about we bump this thread in, oh, I don't know, five years and see who's doing better before we make stupid assumptions.

Granlund. Sven is really struggling. He just looks like he is out of his league right now. At both ends of the rink.

I dont think you have watched the Flames much. He is not being used properly and being scratched while still playing better than some of the vets on the team. Backlund in the same boat. Visit the Flame forum sometime ans youll see the people are pretty upset with Hartley for the most part.

LOL that's a pretty stupid assumption to make. This is Sven's first full NHL season. Last season after being called up he had a 7 game or something point streak.

Something tells me you don't like Baertschi.

Last year, I could have said the same thing you said but switched Granlund and Baertschi's names around...

They're both young and have lots of room for development. Granlunds been playing better over a 15 game period but they both have similar ceilings. They're young. Relax

What's the point of these "duels" if not to make the best of it and enjoy while "winning"?!

And Baertschi has been subpar this season, if I have understood correctly. So, Granlunds projection seems much brighter, as of now. --Maybe Sven's off-season training is to be blamed? Granlund improved in leaps and bounds from last season due to his summer training.

That's really not true. He has been strong in all 3 zones.

Not trying to sound like a homer at all but if we judge off this year, clearly its Granlund and its really not that close.

As to who ends up better in 20 years? .. who knows, but I like Granlund's potential more as he is a higher skilled player and is overcoming his size disadvantage rapidly. I really like Sven and was the guy I wanted the Wild to draft that year, he should turn out to be a very productive top 6 winger.

I think Granlund is turning into a 65-80 PPY center forecasting 2014/15 and on. I would guess he would be in the ball park of 15-20 goals and 60-65 assists playing with Pominville.
