Mayer has hardly been letting in soft goals, it's just that the Dogs aren't very good.
Mayer is looking much better but he's still inconsistent. Personally I think Desjardins can do much better as he will be more consistent and the players will hopefully feed off that.

I couldn't care less how Desjardins will fare in Hamilton, we already have Price and a back up goalie is easily obtainable in the NHL. What I do want, is the offense to spend a little more time in the offensive zone to give a rest on our back-end rookies. Beaulieu only has 1 assist, but given how the PP is doing, and how much time is spent in the Ozone, we can hardly blame him. (His shot needs to be more accurate)
The hope would be that with Desjardins, the team will be at ease more as they can trust him to be at his best consistently. It's not about winning 1-0 or 2-1, it's but the players being more relaxed when he's in net then when Mayer is in net, since we are talking about a goalie that has NHL experience and is already an AHL All Star.

Desjardins is likely a bit better but he's a borderline NHL backup, not the messiah, and it's hardly the issue anyway.
Mayer actually had a better strech last year for a couple weeks he was red hot and got several shutouts over that span before coming back to earth. Desjardins should be a lot more then likely a bit better, as he was outstanding in the AHL last year and was really good with Hamilton before.

Personally I expect the Bulldogs team to improve throughout the year, they are going through a difficult adjustment.

Winning games 1-0 and 2-1 now will help them make the playoffs, and they might be a legitimate playoff team by the late stages of the season.

Well according to his father, ya. But none of us are doctors, that being said i wouldn't expect him back this year.

Desjardins is much better than Mayer, there is no comparison. Injuries have kept him from playing at an NHL-level, and unfortunately, we are seeing more of the same this season.

For those who haven't noticed, the Dogs play vs Rochester at 10am this morning (!?!)

The game plays on TVA Sports and will also be on replay tonight at 7pm.

AHL school game weeks eh, have been high-scoring affairs in the past days, players showing off :p
I don't have high hopes for this game, losing Geoffrion was a massive blow.

Marc Bergevin a accordé un contrat de 25 matchs au gardien Scott Darling #Bulldogs #Habs #AHL

Translation: MB signed goaltender Scoot Darling for a 25 matches contract

I can't see a good reason to add a goaltender to Dogs? Unless Desjardins injury taking more time to heal?

I'm not saying Desjardins is out for a long time. Just wondering why MB signed another goaltender for 25 matches tryout...

Scott Darling was signed because Peter Delmas is out with a sore ankle injury.

Since they didn't call anyone up from Wheeling I wonder who's going to be the 12th forward. Stejskal, Hagel, Avtsin.

Wouldn't be to bad to dress a 7th defensemen, but then again they lost a offensive player and maybe Avtsin wouldn't be so bad.

If they don't, at least, give Avtsin a chance, why don't they just send him to Russia right now?

I know it doesn't even make any sense, this whole Avtsin situation.

Man, Palushaj misses a wide-open net, almost empty net.

Small request: Can the team record not be updated in the thread title until after the TVA Sports broadcast tonight?

I'd hate to know the result before watching it.

Thanks

Just watched the game. I loved Tinordi's, Gallagher's and Natinen's game. Natinen was asked to play a more important role and he stepped up. He was very noticeable. His goal was pretty nice too, glad to see he has a shot.

Not impressed with Stejskal at all. I wasn't expecting much, but he struggled quite a bit today. Beaulieu... Man that was a rough game. I thought he played a little better once he was taken away from St-Denis, but then he and Corbin had a pretty rough shift near the end of the game.

I like Ellis' chances to make the NHL. He's a complete, but kind of unnoticeable defenseman, but I like that kind of player. They're very useful and very reliable. I like the Gorges comparison, with a little less tenacity (at least so far). He has time to develop, of course. And he's got a really good grasp on the basics of his role. He just needs to round out his game and expand his offensive game.

Otherwise, another forgettable game for the Dogs, sadly.

At 23 y.o., Palushaj should be an offensive force this year. I never had high hopes, but I'm still very disappointed in him.

I wish Nattinen was faster, he'd be a decent prospect if he was.

I'm not surprised at all. First of all, he's not great to start with and second, the roster is full of rookies.

I only watch 1 game so far. How's Tinordi and Beaulieu ?

From what I read Tinordi is good, I saw he got his first fight... why did he fight ? To defend a teammate ?

Thanks guys!
