I think we could beat Pittsburg
We dont have their top talent but our 3rd/4th line would destroy their bottom line guy.
I think I agree with you. You've got six top-4 dmen (arguably four top pairing guys), four top-6 centres, and two very good goaltenders. The wings are a little weaker in terms of top-end talent, but there's a lot of strong depth. Defence and goaltending definitely favour Mtl, but Pit still has an advantage at forward I think (assuming we're talking these players at their peaks; if we're just talking all of them as-is, Mtl takes forward as well, because Jagr's at about Pacioretty's level at this point).

Right now Pacioretty is better

David Perron - David Backes - TJ Oshie
Lee Stempniak - Patrik Berglund - Vladimir Tarasenko
Lars Eller - Jay McClement - Jaden Schwartz
Jamal Mayers - Jochen Hecht - Ryan Reaves
Michal Handzus/Marty Reasoner/Petr Cajanek/DJ King

Erik Johnson - Alex Pietrangelo
Barret Jackman - Ian Cole
Nikita Nikitin - Roman Polak
Christian Backman/David Rundblad/Matt Walker

Ben Bishop
Jake Allen
Konstantin Barulin
Marek Schwarz

Defense is the strong point here with two franchise defenseman anchoring the blueline while the rest are top four guys. Rundblad has top pairing potential while Backman was a top our guy for the first few years of his career.

The forwards are solid. Would make for a pretty good top twelve. Obviously it could look better but with guys like Ty Rattie, Dmitri Jaskin, and Phil McRae coming up the ranks, it could look even better two/three years from now.

Goaltending is the weakest position. If Barulin would have come over this probably would be a different story but as of now, Bishop is the top goalie with 23 games played. While he and Allen both have starting potential, it's still not known if they reach said potential or not.

Going to post Winnipeg/Atlanta's as they are my second favorite team.

Ilya Kovalchuk - Brian Little - Evander Kane
Dany Heatley - Patrik Stefan - Carl Klingberg
Darcy Hordichuk - Alexander Burmistorv - Brett Sterling
Spencer Machacek - Derek MacKenzie - Patrick Dwyer
Riley Holzapfel

Tobias Enstrom - Braydon Coburn
Garnett Exelby - Zach Bogosian
Arturs Kulda - Boris Valabik
Nathan Oystrick

Kari Lehtonen
Ondrej Pavelec
Michael Garnett

Not a horrible line up. As bad as Stefan did bust as a top pick, he had a solid career. The top two left wingers are great in Heatley and Kovy and having Kane, Burmistrov, and Little, it's not to bad.

The top four D is pretty good. Exelby was looking like a high end defensemen before the lockout. That style of play suited him better, same as Barret Jackman, but he could adjust to the new game like Jackman did. Enstrom, Bogosian, and Coburn is a very solid top three. Following them up with Valabik, Kulda and Oystrick isn't great but not horrible depth Dmen.

The goaltending is stellar. Two very solid starters. Could find a way to slide into the post season, but I think the lack of depth would hurt them in the long run.

Shirokov, KHL all-star, is also ahead of Rodin by a mile ...

Current NHLers that were Vancouver draft picks ...

Forwards (10):
Matt Cooke
Daniel Sedin
Henrik Sedin
R.J. Umberger
Ryan Kesler
Mike Brown
Jannik Hansen
Mason Raymond
Michael Grabner
Cody Hodgson

Defensemen (5):
Adrian Aucoin
Mattias Ohlund
Bryan Allen
Kevin Bieksa
Alexander Edler

Goaltenders (1):
Cory Schneider

Non-NHLers in: Jarkko Ruutu (Near PPG in SML, good 4th liner), Sergei Shirokov (KHL All-Star), Brent Sopel (Should still be in the NHL, currently in the KHL), Lukas Mensator (starting goaltender in ELH)

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - J. Hansen
M. Raymond - R. Kesler - M. Grabner
M. Cooke - R. Umberger - M. Brown
J. Ruutu - C. Hodgson - S. Shirokov

A. Edler - K. Bieksa
B. Allen - A. Aucoin
M. Ohlund - B. Sopel

C. Schneider
L. Mensator

Goes to show how brutal our drafting has been over the last 15 years that we can't even field a 20-man team of active NHLers.

Ah, for some reason I thought Cannata was a FA signing like Lack. Honzik was drafted in the 2nd round though, so his potential seems to be higher than Cannata if we are putting weight on draft position.

Screw Matt Cooke, he doesn't even deserve to be on Vancouver's lackluster draft roster

Sad to see the number of good players weve lost over the years..
