I see great things from rielly. Bringing him into the NHL would be a mistake though, he needs time to work on his defence

Nope, way more dynamic. Overall still in Murray's favour.

Murray's head is at an NHL level in terms of playing defense.

Rielly's head is at an NHL level in terms of playing offense.

Combine them, and you'd essentially have a Nick Lidstrom type prospect.

FTFY.

I can't wait for the Rielly vs Karlsson vs Subban debates in a few years.

Murray is the better d-man. He was very pivotal today, logged a ton of minutes and did a great job.

I'd agree. I think Rielly was easier to notice, and he was definitely the more dynamic of the two. Neither one of them are finished products, but I think Rielly is the less polished of the two and more of a raw talent in comparison to Murray. That's good news for Leaf fans, I think, because there is plenty of room for growth in his game.

Thought Rielly played a perfect game today defensively that is. On top of that you could see how dynamic offensively he can is when he sees an openiing .

The way I look at it, defense can be taught, especially if you have a good hockey mind likely Rielly, as well as good recovery speed and a good active stick.

Rielly made some mistakes. But I guess they were expecting more so offence from a Rielly-Pulock pairing. Murray was solid in his own end, didn't do much offensively for the most part in the 2nd and 3rd.

A good portion of defense is about committing to the effort, and just playing smart. I think Rielly has both of those things in favor of him, and he'll learn how to play NHL defense quickly enough.

Morgan Reilly is good Leafs fans.. Slippery, wonderful skater -- reminds me a bit of Scott Neidermeyer #Subwayseries

As only team to not make playoffs since last lockout, TOR fans could use some good news. Here it is: Morgan Rielly. Outstanding.

Reilly was fantastic tonight. There were multiple occasions where I was just in shock by what he managed to do. He's just so elusive

Morgan Rielly comparables

Are there any players in the past or currently playing that you're reminded of when watching Morgan Rielly?

Im not so sure there are any. He plays the offensive game similar to Karlsson and his defensive game reminds me of Niedermeyer. I guess Coffey would be the best style comparison. (Again this is simply style comparison, ill cry with joy if he becomes as good as any of these 3)

Joins the rush, plays in the offensive zone. Great speed and core strength. Great vision and playmaking ability. Still not as good of a goal scorer however.

He skates like Coffey and Niedermayer.

If you get a chance to see the kid play live, take it.
