Basing it on the slight chance and hope that there will be a season still.

Your team has a good chance of getting the 1st overall pick or a very high pick either way though.

For a non-season played, the lottery would work like you said though 1st overall picks in the past 3 years also take away 1 ball. So Edmonton actually would only have 1 ball. I believe only 6 or 7 teams have all 3 balls, your team being one of them.

I think his point was that Grigorenko's fall was due to character concerns, not talent. So if Nichushkin doesn't have the same character concerns, even if his talent is slightly lower, why would he fall?

Well his fall will be due to higher concerns of his desire to be an NHLer.
He also is less talented than Grigorenko and 2013 is also a much better draft than 2012. Some people aren't even putting Nichushkin in the first round and by the end it could very well turn out that way. Kuznetsov fell all the way to 26th in 2010.

If that truly is the case, then that would be reason enough. I don't know enough about the situation surrounding Nichushkin.

The one year where the Blues are expected to do well and we have to pick the year that
A) isn't happening
and
B) has the likes of Drouin, Barkov, Monohan, MacKinnon, and all kinds of other top centers in the draft class...

He almost signed in the CHL, but ultimately didn't. I don't know the exact facts, but in my opinion he's not at Yakupov,Tarasenko,Grigorenko and Kuznetsov's level and he may actually fall even further come draft day. I was being pretty generous with his rankings based on his raw skills. Some people have him top 10 and some have him out of the 1st round. WJC will be the big ticket for him to shoot up the rankings though.

Drouin is actually playing LW actually.

Sure, it sucks your team might not get one of the better prospects in this draft, but the Blues are poised to compete for the cup for the next 10 years. Need a bit more depth on the defense, but I can see them winning a cup at some point with the team they have now.

How exactly does Florida get the #2 pick after being Southeast champs and adding Huberdeau etc. to the lineup??

I think Florida highly overacheived last year. Huberdeau is a great player and if there was going to be an NHL season this year, he would be good, but he wouldn't make them a great team in his 1st season. Not even Crosby or Ovechkin could do that.

With an entire lost season, Florida will probably pick in the top 10, maybe not 2nd, but they have a good chance of picking high.

1. Columbus: Nathan MacKinnon
2. Toronto: Seth Jones
3. Phoenix: Alex Barkov
4. Florida: Sean Monahan
5. Calgary: Hunter Shinkaruk
6. Anaheim: Elias Lindholm
7. New York I: Ryan Pulock
8. Edmonton: Rasmus Ristolainen
9. Montreal: Jonathan Drouin
10. Colorado: Adam Erne
11. New Jersey: Curtis Lazar
12. Nashville: Robert Hagg
13. Winnepeg: Valeri Nichuskin
14. Buffalo: Max Domi
15. Ottawa: Darnell Nurse
16. Dallas: Josh Morrisey
17. Carolina: Jacob De La Rose
18. Detroit: Kerby Rychel
19. Minnesota: Anthony Duclair
20. Tampa Bay: Nikita Zadorov
21. Philadelphia: Zach Fucale
22. San Jose: Andre Burakovsky
23. Vancouver: William Carrier
24. Pittsburgh: Arturri Lekhonen
25. Boston: Ryan Kujawinski
26. Columbus*: Steve Santini
27. Washington: Eric Roy
28. Chicago: Eric Comrie
29. St. Louis: Anthony Mantha
30. Columbus*: JT Compher

Sorensen and McCoshen can fall out of the 1st round too.
There is absolutely no way Toronto takes Jones at 2nd. Sure, he may be the likely pick for most teams after MacKinnon, but considering the need for a center on the team and the numerous centers available to pick in the top-10.. Burke would be run out of town if he did that.

They either take Barkov at #2 or trade with Phoenix for 3rd + 2013 4th.. They can agree that if Phoenix takes Barkov, the 4th becomes a 3rd. Toronto takes Monahan, which still gives them what they need.
