Jeffrey Loria at it again

Two franchises killed under this puke.

How do Expos feel about the last 24 hours? Looks like finally the rest of the baseball world is opening their eyes to the fraud that he is...hes getting absolutely destroyed in the media. Good riddance.

Are the Marlins losing money? Did he have a choice?

Oh hell yeah he had a choice. He must enjoy being hated, because he brought it on with relish. Long story short he got taxpayers to build him a new stadium (80% public money) where he gets all the profits. His part of the deal was a promise to spend on the team and to revitalize the surrounding neighborhood. He spent a fortune last season on hugely back-loaded contracts, put nothing in the neighborhood and then dumped the contracts before any of the big payments kicked in. The team was profitable already in it's old stadium (at least it was in 08,09, haven't seen more recent numbers). Maybe he'll face a huge backlash at the box office, but at worst he'll sell the team and stadium and walk away with pockets padded with tax dollars and revenue-sharing. This guy makes absolute mockery of the idea that sports owners are big risk-takers financially (some are, others are the opposite). He doesn't compete in a free market, he skims from a rigged game.

It's just a sickening con game. The officials who gave him the stadium so he could spit in the public's faces should be ashamed of themselves. Also unemployed.

At least an ex-Expos employee is the one fleecing Loria this time.

I'm just happy for the blue jays and their fans. That's Loria's way of saying "sorry" to Montreal lmao.

Don't even give a f about Loria or the marlins.

Glad to see the marlins tanking, awful to see that Loria is still allowed to own a team. The man is a grade-A crook and I think that down the road, he's going to go down as one of the worst people to ever be associated with Major League Baseball.

Loria's 2 World Series Championships says Hi.

They have built a championship and rebuilt twice in the time the Habs have done sweet effing all in the NHL.

Miami fans will get over it, and the team will be back in contention before the Jays win anything noteworthy.

Being discussed in the Expos thread. Since you've made the relation to the Habs, and the fact that people are already talking about it there, keep talking about it in the other thread. Otherwise, head over to the baseball sub-forum.
